Prompt: Do people accomplish more when they are allowed to do things in their own way?

When people are put into restraint, they generally do no like what they are forced to do. Restraint tends to hold back creativity, which in turn leads to one being unable to accomplish one’s goals or endeavors. As restraint restricts creativity, restraint also causes one to grow dislike towards one’s job or duty. Many famous scientists, artists, novelists, and others were able to gain recognition through being free, and being able to do things their own way. Such people, to name a few, are: Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and Albert Einstein.

Steve Jobs, as many may know him for his trademark company Apple, was able to create Apple through a restraint-free environment. Jobs, in his youth, attended Stanford University along with many other brilliant minds; Jobs grew tired of school and knew that school was holding him back from discovering his true intention. With the consent of his parents, Jobs dropped out of Stanford and began pursuing his dream of becoming a technology tycoon. Jobs, restraint-free, went on to create Apple through assiduous, independent work.

Similarily, Bill Gates was able to create Microsoft through an assiduous process. Gates, a brilliant figure, attended Harvard in his youth, but dropped out to pursuit his desire. Gates sought to also advance the technology world by presenting a ground-breaking advancement in technology, which was the software known as “Windows.” Gates endured restraint while in Harvard, but once he dropped out he was able to freely accomplish his goal.

Along with Jobs and Gates, Einstein also proved to that he was able to accomplish more when allowed to do things in his own manner. Einstein, in his early high school years, was held back by the teachings of his teachers, most of who thought of Albert as an overconfident student. But when Albert attended college, he was able to show his professors that his intelligence was far greater than that of the professors’. Some of Einstein’s professors even stepped back and let Einstein lecture the classes. As Einstein was allowed to teach and learn his own way, he was granted more freedom and was less oppressed. Eventually through this freedom, Einstein was able to produce the Theory of Relativity, which is essentially the foundation of Physics.

Consequently, it can be inferred that through less restraint and more freedom, one can accomplish greater things. Gates, Jobs, and Einstein, indeed, demonstrate that if one is allowed to do things one’s own way, one will be able to spawn creativity leading to one being able to accomplish more.
