CRJ or engineering ?

Hello, I am about to start college this fall semester and wanted to earn a degree in Criminal Justice to become a law enforcement officer/detective. I am told that not only is a CRJ degree as beneficial as others to this field, but that engineers make much more money. I am caught between the two, I wanted to join the military but can’t because of cataracts. I’ll do any degree to make money. I liked playing with Legos and building stuff as a kid so maybe engineering is a good way to go? What do you think
