CS major; Towson, Stony Brook, or Binghamton?

So I'm a Computer Science major, and I need help choosing between Towson University, Stony Brook U, and Binghamton U.

Since for Towson I'm in-state and I plan on also getting a MS an CS, I figured perhaps that i would go to Towson for undergrad then go to a different university for grad, and then only have debt for grad.

Plus, I'm an urban girl, and Towson is the only one that seems to be very close to urban life(Baltimore), but I'm also the type to stay home and watch movies/read/internet surf

But idk how valuable a BS in CS from Towson is, and I know that Stony Brook is highly acclaimed for it's program and Binghamton also has a good program.

I was initially planning for SB, but reading student comments on SB and the quality of life there made be do a 180 degree turn...

...help?

I think this is a good plan. Towson will be a good place to start, and you will save quite a bit of money.

If you’re the type to just stay home, why would urban/rural matter that much to you? And speaking as a CS major, you probably wouldn’t have enough time to get bored of smaller towns.

CS is also one of those subjects with an incredible amount of subfields, some of them differing wildly from others. I, for one, can’t stand computer architecture, compilers and security. So I would recommend that you go to a school with diverse offerings, lest you be forced to take various courses in subfields that you would hate (Towson, for example, has almost no AI/Decision theory courses, which would have been a nightmare for me).

Thanks for the input guys!

@Ray192 - I am the type to stay home, but that’s if no friends are available, otherwise I will be out, but rural freaks me out. On top of that, now that my eczema is getting better, I prefer to be out, so I think the main reason I’ve lived like a semi-hermit is because of my sever eczema.

ALso, I really have to work while in college, and I don’t think the job opportunities are that great in SB, I know I could make more on my own per semester as opposed to the Work Study offered.

Also, I’ve heard that the meal plan isn’t one that offers a set amount of meals per/wk, but rather one where say the meal plan was $2000, so you get 2000points, and then whenever you get a meal, the dollar value is deducted from the account, and each meal is ~$10. That’s ~$30 a day!

I suppose if i just rented an apt/room for rent, this would be less of an issue, esp since due to my eczema, I’m requesting a single dorm, but considering what i’ve heard about the quality of the dorms, I wonder if living in SB’s dorms will cause my skin to be even more exacerbated…

But again, if i rented something, scholarship $ wouldn’t cover it so I’d definitely need a job. My mom is a single low-income parent and we have less than $10000 in savings+checking, so she’s not an option. I’ll probably call the school to find out about the reality of the part-time work available around SB, rather than my perception from what I’ve read and seen when I visted.

I might just go to SB, because of it’s reputation and the 5yr combined BS/MS in CS that is offered.
