I understand I have asked an assortment of questions, but thats due to I was switching what I want to do, but I am 99.99% sure CS is what I am going to major in. But CW and RPI like the school I go to alot, 100% applicants who applied to there gotten in. But i have a 3.0 and probably good sat if my Practice tests are right. So lets disregard chances, and say which one has the better CS program, due to they cost around the same. I am looking for one that has prestige and good teaching due to i like getting help directly from the teacher. And also cost is not a matter. I kind of know how to program already, so if that would help......
Thanks.

so they are dead equal in prestige and teach the smae way? Wow, bump

I don’t know a lot about the programs, but IMHO, RPI has more name recognition than Case Western for CS. I don’t quite know why.

One reason you may not be getting answers is that prestige is a really bad primary factor in picking a school. If you have academic interests in CS, see which school fits them better. I can help with this if you want. If they’re really the same in your eyes, see which one has a more attractive program in terms of courses, electives, etc.

Sorry, just getting pestered about which colleges im interested in. Well, I want to work in software. So which one would offer a more hands on and getting ahead of the competition for a job. And also, which one would be more advanced and teach me the best. I just see location. It is hard to see a difference when they seem the same and cost the same.

You want strong software engineering then? Good. Let me check the programs…
…
You will be happier at Case Western, by a long shot.
- At RPI, the CS program is in the school of science, and there is little exposure to software engineering proper in the required courses and few elective courses to that effect
- At Case, the CS program is in the school of engineering, and Software Engineering is the first concentration listed for CS majors.

Forget prestige, you want Case Western.

Ok, sorry last one for the thread. What is Rose Hulman compared to Case? Due to, my parents want me closer to home which is on the west coast and it seems cheaper to us. Any help Auburn is much appreciated.

Rose Hulman has a CS/SE offering very similar to my instution’s.

For my money, Rose Hullman looks like it will give you better depth in SE and better breadth in CS/SE, both of which are important at all levels of education.

That being said, it also looks like you’ll be missing out on some of the college experience by going to Rose compared to Case. Diversity and options are good things for the fresh college student.

If I were you, I’d go to RH if and only if I was sure I knew what I wanted to do, I knew I could do it, and you really value breadth and depth you’d be getting academically in SE and CS over, say, opportunities to meet people majoring in Classics, or the possibility of minoring in philosophy, or something.

both are excellent schools…however, i’d give RPI the slight edge bc it’s more of a tech oriented school…you can’t go wrong with either school though…
