Which one, CS top 10 school out-of-state, $50,000. Or CS top 100 school instate $10,000?
Who cares about the school’s overall ranking. What CS internship & job recruitment opprtunities are available at each school?
Exactly. My kiddo was accepted at schools of higher ranking but cost way more. I said: do you want 200 recruiters or is 75 enough?
I’ve hired numerous software engineers in my career. Whether they went to UW (#6 is USNWR rankings) or, say, Lehigh (tied for #101) only matters slightly for their initial job. After their initial job, it doesn’t matter at all.
Perhaps your internship and first job opportunity are different between these 2 schools. At the end, it is more about your ability than the school you are graduated from. If you are looking at 4x $40000 difference, I would choose the cheaper one unless money is no issue for you.
And can your family actually afford $50K/year for school?
