CSE 20 is pretty much a discrete math course I hear. Would it be okay to take that with another math course...like Math 20C?

My planned schedule for the Winter Quarter:

CSE 20
Math 20C
CSE 91
Warren Writing 2

It says you can take CSE 20 with just CSE 8A, but is it recommended?

Also, why is the grade distribution so low for CSE 20? That difficult?

cse 20 is pretty much a math course
there is very little programming, and if you already took 8a, then you should understand all the programs used in cse 20

btw, why are you planning for winter quarter already?

Jesus Christ, planning for Winter Quarter already?? Haha, it’s okay. I’ve already planned four years ahead (Subject to change). CSE 20 will be taught by Gupta in Winter 2011, (Rajesh, not Utsav), and it seems as if he has pretty low easiness ratings. I wouldn’t take him, unless you’re truly committed. That load isn’t bad with 8B instead of 20, though.

Cheng will be teaching it in the Spring, and I heard that although he has a thick-ass accent, he’s decent compared to some of the other CSE 20 professors.

Ofcourse unless you want to take CSE 21 in the Spring with Ron Graham–who I hear is quite accomplished, I would take CSE 20 in the Spring over the Winter.

Oh, and for your information, CSE 20 has a large emphasis on set theory and logic, so it’s more abstract thinking than 20C (which I thought was easy).

CSE20 isn’t that bad. Math20C is not that hard either.
