whats the point of this thing anyway? I had to pay ten dollars and submitted a form to qualify, but how will this benefit me?

good question...i have yet to..uhh...reap any benefits from it.

my best guess is along the lines of qualifying for certain scholarships...

http://www.csf-cjsf.org/ ....take a look?

For our school, you get a beautiful cord to wear during graduation. :)

True...and a pin...and a gold seal on your diploma.

You get a phatty scholarship upon graduation. Duhhh!
Isn't that what every club/community service is for!?

Our school's CSF organized fundraisers to fund scholarships just for CSF seniors. It was pretty nifty; we had two scholarships worth $650 each...and only 2 seniors applied. (The rest of the senior class just joined CSF for EC padding and for that pretty tassel + stoll at graduation).

So, in my case, CSF is good for free money!

To be able to qualify for certain scholarships, silly.

for our school, we were SUPPOSED to get to be the first group of people to walk the stage at graduation. i forgot if we got a tassel for the cap or a cord...or was it both?

[rant] but yeah, tradition was CSF members get to walk first. every since like the beginning of CSF at our school or something. but the freaking NOOB A$$ principal didnt let us walk first because its not fair/equal to everyone else. HELLO?! we're in CSF because we've maintained a high GPA all throughout high school, so no, we are not equal to every one else. we are better and we should have been recognized for that.   [/rant]

I really disliked all the CSF-esque and NHS-esque organizations at my school. They were all BS. Sometimes, our "leaders" would just assign people leadership positions and then never meet again.

Same at mine.

sigh this makes me depressed. it feels i just wasted ten dollars then.

wait, dont you guys fundraise for scholarships for CSF members? i thought that what the "scholarship" in CSF was for!

Fundraising for scholarships is a personal decision for each school. My school had one similar to yours but it's not something standard for CSF.

meh, i skipped joining CSF and joined NHS instead. at my school, NHS actually meant and did something. it was a lot harder to get in and stay in, whereas CSF... you didn't even have to go to the meetings. CSF was... EC padding... and kinda useless in my opinion.
and they got a cord but... we got a spiffy sash xD

I don't like CSF or NHS. Most people join it at my school just to put it on their college apps...

Plus at my school you only get like a $50 scholarship at the end of 4 semesters for being a CSF "lifetime member"...

$50 just for being a lifetime member? We only got a spiffy sash.

Well, I guess it depends on how active the student body at CSF is. For my year, we sent out invitations to all of the sophomore class, fundraised up the wazoo, car washes, bake sales, etc.

This year? Sit. Ponder about what we could do. Count the...3 people that actually attends the meetings.

At least you guys HAD meetings......

We get to graduate in white at my school if we were in CSF for 4 semesters. It's kind of cool. Sets you apart from everyone else at graduation.

We get that gold band thing to wear around our neck that drapes down. I don't know what it's called.. haha. We also get a tassle too. Other than being set apart at graduation, there's nothing..

our school's CSF is crazy popular.. not only do we get the grad stuff and scholarships (hopefully, this year's admin is kind of unorganized) but there's lots of community service and there's an annual college trip that we take.
