CSI Allianz Insurance

Does anyone have any experience with the CSI Allianz insurance for students. We just received a brochure in the mail. It seems like a reasonable way to cover an expensive laptop and other items while away at school. Too bad, bicycles are excluded though.

We used CSI for my son at another college, and it covered a very expensive laptop repair after he spilled an energy drink on it–quick reimbursement with no hassles. I just ordered it for my D at USC as well–agree about the bicycles, though–I was surprised by that.

We bought it too. I am just going to start making a claim for something. Lets see what happens.

Hmm. S1 had CSI insurance; his bike was stolen and it was covered (with small deductible). Wonder if the non-coverage of bikes is something new?

I think it’s probably worth it for the laptop alone. I didn’t buy an extended warrenty on it because I think its more likely to break (each of my 3 kids has physically broken their laptop at some point) or be stolen! p.s. is there someone watching who will get rid of the spam?

If something is stolen from a student’s room (eg computer or handbag), what are the requirements to document the theft for reimbursement (eg, campus police report, “real” police report)?

I just put a claim in and was ok-ed for payment in 2 hours!!! Crazy!! Amazing! They have a face book wall and you can read the posts.
25 dollar deductible

I haven’t received anything in the mail about this insurance but would like more information about it. Could someone please either post the link or PM me? Sounds like the claim process is hassle-free enough to consider a low deductible policy. Too bad about the bike exclusion though…

This is the direct link. I’ve already ordered it for my D but in looking at it again it appears that USC is one of the few school where bicycles are excluded. Must mean there we’re a lot of claims in the past. :(

Thanks for the info! Am thinking about $5000 coverage, $25 deductible, start date August 22 (move-in day). Have any of you signed up for something different from this and why? I haven’t used insurance like this before so I’d like to hear what others are thinking and doing.

We bought the $5000 policy with $25 deductible however we started it on 8/11 which is when we load up the car and drive from IL with stops in UT at the National Parks. We figured it would be extra coverage or all her stuff on the journey. It will be in force until 8/10/13.

We bought CSI Allianz Insurance last year for my son when he lived at Parkside A&H. Never had a problem or needed to file a claim. This year he is moving to Gateway. Gateway requires students to maintain liability insurance and this year CSI is offering dorm insurance coverage with 100K liability coverage. For S10K in personal property coverage, $25 deductible and $100k liability came out to be just under $300.

Gateway recommended a company that had $100k liability $15K personal property with deductibles ranging from $250 - $500 for around $255.

We are going with CSi based on their reliability, quick claims and low deductible.
