Is it possible to make corrections after submitting?
Not online. Contact your colleges and find out how they want you to make corrections. They will tell you what to do.
@thumper1 does it look really bad to admissions if you made a mistake? I keep stressing out over how incompetent they might think I am or something since it’s a competitive school… I rechecked my answers about 5 times and I didn’t know it was a mistake until I read the Help Guide where it clarified something that it hadn’t even mentioned in the question itself
No, admissions doesn’t care and will more than likely never even known. People make FAFSA & PROFILE mistakes all the time.
Call the FA office and get it fixed. No big deal.
You call financial aid about the corrections. Admissions never sees your financial, aid forms.
People make mistakes. It is OK to call and find out how to correct them…
If it’s something from your tax return, you might not need to do anything if you linked your FAFSA to the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.
BUT you need to call and ask. The schools will tell you what to do.
Make sure your FAFSA is correct too!
We had to make corrections.
Most of the schools accepted an email from the student to the FinAid office, specifying which lines and the corrected value.
A couple of schools required the relevant pages (printed from the CSS site) to be corrected by hand, scanned and emailed to them.
Thank you so much everyone! I was really starting to feel extremely anxious and depressed over this, thinking I had ruined my chances at even getting accepted, it’s a relief to know mistakes are common and not the end of the world. Thank you!!
Do not worry! These forms are very complicated, and mistakes that need correction are pretty common. It will not hurt your chances at all. Just call and ask the colleges how they would like to get the correction.
