I filed FAFSA today based on estimates.
According to FAFSA site I can correct numbers after I file taxes. I can even do it automatically if I e-file.

The e-file is not open til 01/17. And I am afraid that I might get some of the documents needed for my tax return probably in late February or March, it happened before.

The CSS deadline at some of the colleges is 02/01.

If I send CSS based on estimates would I be able to make corrections later?

I had the same question a few days ago and someone here (I think it was alamemom) explained that you don’t really need to correct the CSS profile, and there isn’t really a mechanism to do it. Complete the CSS profile now based on your best estimates and select Will File, and also complete the FAFSA now with best estimates and select Will File. The FAFSA does have to be updated after you file the 2011 return, and the schools will have those numbers, so there is no need to go back to the CSS profile at that point.

It is true that you cannot correct CSS profile application online once you submit it. But, you can (and you should) print and make the correction manually and send it.
