Sorry, I know this is last minute, but do I need to send in BOTH forms for each college? I'm really clueless on this financial aid process. D:

Oh and also, what's the difference between Fafsa.edu and fafsaonline.com?

Sorry, I know this is last minute, but do I need to send in BOTH forms for each college? I'm really clueless on this financial aid process. D:

Oh and also, what's the difference between Fafsa.edu and fafsaonline.com?

fafsa.ed.gov is the FAFSA link. FAFSA is used by most (if not all?) schools. CSS profile is for privates.

Oh… Thank you.

CSS PROFILE is NOT only for private. U of M requires it (just one example to contradict the above statement). Don’t assume you don’t need it if your school is public. Call em and check.

And don’t assume your private college does require it. Not all do. Check the financial aid pages of each college’s website. There may be other forms that are required. Also check submission deadlines.

Don’t file your FAFSA through anything with “.com” at the end. Use the official “ed.gov” site.

Thanks, everyone.

But question: Does my mom need a FAFSA PIN if I’m a dependent? I was under the impression that we only need to file one together under my PIN.

Yes. A pin for the student and a pin for the parent. (Just one parent pin is sufficient for married parents.)

Does my mom need to fill out FAFSA on her parent PIN account as well?

Yes, a PIN signature from you (the student) and a PIN signature from a parent.

You’ll just fill out one FAFSA. You will “sign” it with your PIN, and your mother will “sign” it with hers. Just one application, one account.

sigh Thanks, everyone.

But how do I reactivate the pin they deactivated? D:

LOL, I’m soooo glad that didn’t happen to me. I forgot my pin like times (actually, I had OCD and wanted to make sure I had it correct). Sorry, I have no idea what you should do.

I have no idea how long it takes (I’m assuming it’s automatic, since you previously registered for a PIN under your SSN, but here’s the link to reactivate/reestablish your PIN:
https://pin.ed.gov/PINWebApp/PINServlet?state=300&locale=en_US

@DisplayError: Nupe… That didn’t work for me either. :(

Another question: Would FAFSA & CSS make the Feb. 1st deadline if I submit them on Feb. 1st?

Yes. If the deadline for submission is Feb. 1st… then of course you can submit it on Feb. 1st. Just get started on it early. Tomorrow is going to be a VERY busy day for those websites and there are bound to be problems.
