CSS Profile - Divorced Parents

Hello you all.

First all, let me excuse myself if my question has been already done and answered or if it is dumb. I am a foreigner and I'm just not used to the whole process.

Very well, it is simple: I am a child of divorced parents, being my mother my custodial parent. She is remarried, but my expenses have always been shared between her and my father. My stepfather has got no involvement whatsoever, as he has a daughter of his own from a previous marriage.
When I was completing my CSS profile, I noticed that I would be asked to provide his information as well - and I assume that by that, they meant financial info also. So, my question is: how do I proceed? It is not that I want to obtain financial aid at any cost (ironically), but I am just not financially dependent on my stepfather, just on my biological parents.

Thank you a lot in advance.

For Profile, you must provide income and asset information for your custodial parent (your mother) and her spouse (your stepfather). Profile is set up so that this information can be entered for each parent (mother/stepfather) separately. It doesn’t matter that your stepfather doesn’t directly provide support for you; he’s (presumably) indirectly supporting you by helping to pay for your housing, food, and other household expenses.

If your college is one of the ones that requires that the non-custodial form be filed, then your father and his spouse (if he’s remarried) must fill out the non-custodial form. When you register to create a Profile form, you will be asked if your parents are divorced, and if so you’ll be given your CSS ID and a secure password that your father can use to log in and enter his information (he can then also change his password).

Well, OK then. Thank you very much! My father happens to be separated from his second wife, so her income will not be considered.
