The CSS profile asks for my sibling's school expenses. Does that include field trip fees and supply fees as well as tuition?

I would say it includes tuition only…but that is my opinion.

I think school expenses covers everything, but they are probably not going to deduct that sum from your EFC.
My daughters private school included everything in tuition- it was public school that was always needing extra fees for this & that.

Dorming costs would certainly be considered an expense, if he/she lives on-campus. Some schools calculate this into their “tuition,” while others do not. But I would include it either way as an expense. I don’t think extra supply fees would be included (books, kits for science courses, art supplies for art classes, etc.), but if it adds up to a substantial amount, I might include it anyway. Some majors are more expensive than others.

I think there are 2 different questions. From last year’s CSS profile:

Enter the total elementary, junior high school, and high school tuition your parent(s) paid or expect to pay for dependent children in 2010. Do not include tuition paid for you, the student. PE-130A

Enter the total elementary, junior high school, and high school tuition your parent(s) expect to pay for dependent children in 2011. Do not include tuition paid for you, the student. PE-135

How much did your parents pay for this person’s education for the 2010-11 academic year? FM-135

Tuition applies to 1 and 2.
Total cost applies to 3.
