CSS Profile Mistake

The "Explanations/Special Circumstances" section on my CSS Profile was cut off, so I wrote an email with a complete version to the colleges I submitted it to. However, I can't find financial aid office emails for four of the schools I need to send the email to. How should I go about getting them the corrected information?

Should I mail them a hard copy of the correction? Should I just email their admissions office? Not sure what to do.

The four schools I need help with are Wesleyan University, Harvard College, Brown University, and Emory University, if someone has college-specific information.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help me!

Go to each of your university’s websites and look for the financial aid section. They usually have a way to contact them via email (look for “Contact Us”). I just checked Brown at [Brown University](http://www.brown.edu) and they have a form online for you to send them a message. My daughter’s schools all had an email addresses specifically for financial aid. I sent special circumstances letters to them via email as an attachment.

Thanks for the response!

I emailed WashU about the error awhile ago, and I recently got a response saying that they actually received my remarks as intended (the section was not cutoff or formatted wrong). Does this mean that my other schools received the version that I wanted them to too? I mean, I don’t see why one school would get something different from another if I didn’t change anything in between sending.

Sounds like a reasonable assumption but better safe than sorry. If I were you, I would send a separate letter about your special circumstances. It gives you more room to make a better case for your situation rather than limiting it to 27 lines.

FallenAngel, out of curiosity, I just googled each of those colleges (“Harvard College Financial Aid” for ex) and had no trouble finding an email address for each one. I did not take the time to copy the emails down, but they were all readily available except for Emory’s. Emory’s is a little trickier. After selecting “Contact Us” from the google results, I had to select “Emory College” from the page that came up. THEN, you’ll get a list of financial aid email addresses depending upon your student’s last name. All the other schools were cut and dried. Just look for Contact Us, or the like.

I agree with Aloha. It’s best to check in with them to ensure that everything was received as you intended. I made a mistake on my son’s CSS Profile, and I emailed each college’s financial aid office to cover my butt. I got a response from each one.

Good luck to you! :)
