Quick question: for the part when you’re filling out your classes on the CSU app and it asks whether it’s honors/AP/IB, can you say it’s honors if it’s a school-approved honors but not UC-approved? My counselor said I could designate all school honors as honors but just wanted to check
If they are not UC approved Honors, you do not designate them as such on the application. Your counselor is giving you incorrect information.
You should type the name of the course as listed on your transcript even if it states Honors, but it is still not considered an Honors course unless it is on the approved a-g course list.
From CSU Mentor website:
Approved high school honors level courses means that the courses are identified as honors level on your official high school a-g course list. You can find your school’s course list at hs-articulation.ucop.edu/agcourselist#/list/search/all.
@Gumbymom Oh really?? Hmm ok. So if I took Honors English in grade 10 but it’s not UC-approved, would I just say “not applicable” when asked whether the course is Honors or AP?
Yes. My son’s also took Honors English in 10th which is not UC approved at their school even though their transcript states English 10 (Honors).
@Gumbymom Ok that’s very good to know, thank you!
@Gumbymom The CSU app only allows you to input 4 physical science courses. If I have a fifth can I put it in as an elective?
Yes, you can put it under Category G.
Ok great thanks! @Gumbymom
