CSU masters to UC PhD

hey folks,

I'm a new EE grad student at one of the cal state universities. I'm thinking of eventually applying for some UC PhD programs after I complete my masters.

Does anyone know if it's actually possible to get into any UC EE PhD programs with a M.S. from a CSU? I guess cal states don't have many research opportunities, so I'm wondering if an M.S. from a CSU is looked down upon by the UCs.

Thanks.

Sure it’s possible. The Cal States and UCs have a decent relationship. Depending on the Cal State you’re at… the Cal Poly schools have pretty good reputations. Just pursue all the research opportunities you can.

My father went from a B.A. at Cal State Northridge to a Ph.D at UC Berkeley. It’s doable :)

I’m at Long Beach, which I think is third (behind the two cal polys) in engineering. My only concern is that there is a lack of research opportunities at Cal States in general, particularly in engineering.
