I am from and currently living in NJ and the reason i am not in college yet is because my high school still haunts me. First off my guidance counselor did not send any of my teacher recommendation letters to colleges i applied to when i first started applying in Fall 2013. And he did not tell me that he didn't, i had to ask him what was going on when i got a bunch of rejection letters. Luckily one school i applied to did not need them, CSU Los Angeles. I flew out to Cali and the day of my orientation, i got an email saying my admission had been rescinded, apparently i had gotten a D in my AP English class. You see i did not know this. Why? Because on my report card it said i had a C. So it turns out that not only did my school misprint my report card i was living a blissful lie thinking i actually passed that class with a C. I just recently found this out in November 2013. So now i am seriously pressed for time to make up two semesters of English in one semester. I was just wondering, if i explain the situation, do i have a chance of getting into CSU Northridge? I only had one D in high school, which was unfortunately in a core class, but i also took two other AP classes which i passed with flying colors. My GPA in my senior year was a 3.65 the lowest GPA i had all of high school and i graduated top 22% of my class (would have been top 20 if i did not get a D). And what sucks the most is that my D was a 73 and on the grading scale, at least for my high school, that 73 is the highest D you can get. If anyone could let me know that would be great. I am dying to go to college but luck has not been on my side i figured if the college knew what was going on they could cut me some slack. Thanks for reading, comments would be appreciated. :)

CSU LA is not one of the more selective CSUs - meaning if they turned you away, you are kinda stuck. Most schools won’t accept ‘high school’ courses after you graduate. If you go to a CC, you will be flagged as a transfer student and selective CSUs won’t look at your ap until you have 60 units. If you’ve met all the a-g requirements (even with your D), your best shot would have been to apply as a freshman again this cycle - which you’ve missed. You could apply for Spring 15 as a freshman but, you’ll have burned 18 months doing nothing.
I’d go to your local CC, bang out 60 units ASAP and transfer as a JR. You are obviously bright and could get it done quickly (3 semesters + summer is doabe).

Hey thanks for the advice but I already applied for the upcoming fall to CSU Northridge forgot to mention that it’s not the only one I applied to so I have other choices but out of all the schools I applied to CSU is at the top. I have heard before that other people have gotten into CSU’s with D’s so I just wanted to see if had a shot. Thanks again for the advice
