Applied to UC's, Getting a D my Senior Year

So I went transferred schools before my senior year this year and that was a terrible idea and I deeply regret that decision now.

I have:
weighted GPA- 3.7
unweighted - 3.2
SAT - 1910

I've only applied to UC's so far, and they are LA, SD, SB, SC, Riverside, and Irvine. I know a few were stretches, so they're out of the question now, but as first semester of senior year is coming to a close, I realize the odds are I'm going to get a D in AP English Literature. I've tried to reason with my teacher but that was unsuccessful. I have 2 weeks to get my grade up but the chances are slim. I'm taking AP Calc BC, AP Gov/AP Econ, AP Environmental, and AP Eng Lit. I guess I'm just wondering if I can get into any of these UC's with a D. If there's any chance, what can I do to maybe make that not look so bad. I would hate to get into any of those and have my admission be rescinded for my senior grades. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I think if you tell them once you get it you probably won’t get rescinded? Remember they don’t get sr. grades until after they accept you. I’m not too sure. Maybe it’s different for each college. Are you sure you can’t raise it to a C with the final?

Off topic, I have basically the same classes as you :).

I’ve talked to my teacher and tried to reason with her, but she’s not being understanding at all. I’m trying my best, but in the case that I can’t raise it…I know I should tell the schools I applied to about my grades, but do I mail, email, or what? And do I send this notice to all of them or the ones I hopefully get into?

You can probably look on each respective website to see how to contact them, and you should send it to all of them. Idk if you need to explain anything with it or just that you got the grade, someone else help :frowning: .

Alright well thanks for trying. Anyone else have any advice?

Drop the class! Talk to your counselor, tell them you NEED to be in college prep. At least then you’ll get an A.

I’m sure dropping the class looks just as bad as getting a D. Either way I’d have to contact them and tell them what’s going on. I’m just kind of having a breakdown at this point. I only go to each class 2 more times and that’s it. If my teacher isn’t sympathetic I might have to apply elsewhere and I have no clue where I’d want to go that is still accepting applications. I’d still like to know how I could ease the damage done by this D as far as getting into these UC’s goes. Thank you

For large public schools like UCs, they wouldn’t be as anal as to rescind an accepted applicant unless s/he failed the class… this is just my two cents. Also, your courseload is very rigorous - this is different from, for example, if the said student had only like 1 AP.

@Midnight - get some sleep.

You do not know:

 1. If you will get a D
 2. If you will be accepted by these colleges
 3. If they will care

So calm down, do your best in the class, get the AP review book and study for the exam. If you do get a poor grade, just wait. Do not make a point of telling colleges. They already will be automatically seeing senior grades, they routinely are sent to colleges you were accepted to, or possibly applying to, by your school. My D got a poor grade and the counselor said “wait until the school asks for it” - you can’t hide it but don’t publicize it either.
