I'm currently a senior in high school right now and the school I wanted to go to was SDSU. Unfortunately, due to my major being impacted, I wasn't able to get in to SDSU and San Marcos was the only college I got in to. The major I applied for at SDSU was computer engineering and at San Marcos I applied for computer science. If I started out at San Marcos for a year or two, how hard would it be to transfer to SDSU? I hear that it's hard to transfer from a CSU to another CSU because they have third/last priority, with CC transfers first and Freshman applicants second. So if I wanted to pursue my degree in computer science or computer engineering, should I just finish my general Ed at San Marcos and after two years just transfer to SDSU? Or would it make much more sense to just go to a CC and transfer to SDSU? What would be my best option? I'm also just going to be commuting so both schools are fairly easy for me to get to, each being around 30 minutes away from me.

If as you say CC transfers get first dibs, I would go to a CC. It’ll also be cheaper, and easier to maintain a high GPA. You’ll also have more time to work on extra-curriculars. Build something innovative with your CS knowledge and showcase it in your transfer application.

I’m not so sure about that priority thing. My girlfriend got into CSU East Bay as a transfer from CSU Stanislaus. She was accepted in January.

I, on the other hand, transferring from a community college, have yet to be accepted (but I think that’s because they’re waiting for my residency forms which I haven’t sent in).

Then again if you go to a CC, course articulation would probably be more laid out and easier to comprehend, no matter what college you decide to transfer to.
