Who here has done csu -> uc?

Hello! I just finished my first year at csu san marcos and finished with a 3.66 gpa majoring in computer science. I completed 27 units(some ge's, prereq compsci class, calc I) and i am planning on taking calc 2 this summer (4 units). I was wondering if any of you have transferred from csu to uc or know of anyone that has done it and would like to offer any advice. I would like to attempt to transfer to uci. are my chances low at the moment? I have done quite a bit of research on it on this forum and i know that cc transfers get priority and all that but i was wondering if anyone has personal advice for me in my situation. Thank you!!

I went from CSU to CC to UCI, and I think that’s probably your best bet if you are dead set on going to a UC. CC students do get priority since they HAVE to transfer to continue their education. Your GPA is good, and your classes at San Marcos will most likely fulfill some of the IGETC requirements. If you really want the best chance at a UC, I would go to a community college like Palomar or MiraCosta next year instead of CSU San Marcos, finish IGETC and the other transfer requirements that they want for your major and transfer from there. As another benefit, you save quite a bit of money in tuition as well.

Hey I am about to be in the situation as you sometime in the future. I’m about to attend SDSU this fall, but I’ve been wanting to go to a UC in the first place. So I was thinking also of transferring to a ccc my 2nd year, then transfer to a UC 3rd year. Tell me or update this post on how everything goes for you, and probably share any advice and experiences pf how things went I wish you good luck!
