Do they transfer over in any case at all?

I took ERSC144 SS121 ERSC110 GEOG250 Fall 2009 @ Cal Poly and although the first three are earth science major classes and not general ed, the fourth one (GEOG 250) is physical geography. I can't find where it says it would or would not be transferrable but I think it should...

The reason is that I need this GEOG250 class to be transferrable so that it will satisfy the Physical Science requirement for IGETC. I mean they have the same course title..... Is it possible that it could be IGETC-able and not transferrable? because as long as the IGETC people approve the course, then i can get the IGETC certified. THEN... who cares if it's transferrable or not because it's not even relevant to my major.

What I meant to say was, can a CSU class satisfy an IGETC requirement if it is exact duplicate of the class needed? aka GEOG250(Physical Geography) satisfying my Physical Science requirements of GEOG1(Physical Geography) at my community college.

I feel that if it’s the exact same name it should but you have to keep in mind classes can be called the same but not satisfy the requirements for a certain university.

I would suggest going to assisnt.org, do explore majors for Cal Poly and pick a major that would require Physical Geology and then look up the major pre-reqs at your local CC. If Physical Geography is considered a pre-req, go to your school of choice and major and look up a major in the same aspect and if your CC equates Physical Geography there too then that means your Cal Poly course translates as well.

You can also look up IGETC satisfying courses and Physical Geography should be on there for your CC. Then, check for your a major at Cal Poly that requires it for the major and if it’s equated then, again, the class from Cal Poly will transfer over.

Sorry if convoluted, hard to articulate multi-step processes without getting wordy or making lists

=] It transfers through. I e-mailed my CCC transfer counselor and she said I had to turn in this form along with an official transcript to some place in the counseling office with a page of cal poly catalog that describes the course. The thing is that I remember doing this last year, without the form. I gave a counselor my OFFICIAL transcript on a drop-in session and he went on his computer, found the course catalog of SLO, verified, and added it to my foothill unofficial transcript. I sent the transfer counselor an email to tell her that, but now we’ll see what happens once she responds. I’d be surprised if i had this already covered last year. maybe i’m just worrying about it. haha

Haha, it’s only natural to sweat the details, this stuff’s important!

You live in San Mateo and go to Foothill? Must be quite the daily commute

It’s beautiful!!! taking 280 south everyday holy ----. Wouldn’t trade it for CSM at all. It seems that CSM gets such a better view of where I used to live, Foster City, and the SF Bay as well.
