How can i transfer from CSU Bakersfield to any UC ?
I want to become a dentist that's why i attend CSUB as it's a four year institution and most of dental schools prefer to take their requirements at a four year institution. Anyway i want to transfer to a UC can anyone give me a timeline or if someone have before transfer from a CSU to a UC hel me
thanks

How many units do you have? What’s your major? What’s your GPA?

30 units quarter system biology major thinking to change to biochemistry

Look into transferring to your local community college first, then transferring from there to a UC. The priority for UC transfers seems to be
- CC students
- UC and OOS
- CSUs

i already took my General chem
if i went to CC and took any other classes i will not have any shot to Dental school as they highly refused someone who went to 4-year institution to go to CC. And then got to UC or any other college.
And most of then don’t accepted any CC credits so i will waste my time and when i go to UC i will waste my time taking those classes i took at CC and wasting money

Felling depressed :(

hang in there. do all of your requirements at the CSU and then apply to transfer to a UC. Make sure you include UC Riverside or UC Merced on your application since those are pretty easy to get into. good luck

UCR UCI UCSB UCSD
they’re my top choices

If your GPA is good enough you probably have a decent chance at any of the schools. Probably around a 3.5 to be safe, SD might be a little tougher.

The problem is i don’t know each school requirements for my major!
i know the general requirements as no arguments between CSU and UC

Go on assist, look at the requirements from a community college to a UC, then the same one to CSUB. Then figure out the equivalents.

@dentist19 where did u get the info about Dental Schools not accepting CC classes?.. I know of at least 2 people that were community college transfers (graduated from UCLA) and have just finished their first year of dental school…

one of them is going to USC (don’t know what the heck he was thinking since he got into UCSF) and the other one is going to UCLA… as long as you complete the requirements, get a good GPA and do good on the Dental Admissions Exam (DAT) you have a shot at Dental School…

@dentist19 - my wife is a dentist and also teaches (very) part-time at UCLA. She’s had dental students with undergrad degrees from all over the place. From Cal State Long Beach, to UCLA, to Cal, to Harvard and beyond. I think the real question is whether or not extra time and tuition spent transferring from CSUB to a UC will really help your chances of admission. Perhaps consider staying put, getting great grades and developing relationships with your professors.

You could also contact the admissions offices at the dental schools you are interested to see if they think it would behoove you to transfer. Good luck and study hard!

@Dagoberto couples of dental schools almost 8 or 9 doesn’t accept CC credits and most of CA dental schools preferred that you take the credits at a 4 year institution
@arc918 . I called before the dental schools and they mentioned that undergraduate wouldn’t affect your admission because they can’t say we preferred someone from a prestigious UC rather than someone from a CSU. If you check the statistics for UCSF, Loma Linda, UCLA or even USC dental schools you would know that most of the class are from UC and only 6-8 persons are from CSU
you can even ask your wife and she will told you
