Theatre is my passion. I tried to pretend that I was interested in engineering or biology but I’m not. I have been accepted to seven schools but it feels right now like it’s coming down to fullerton or Riverside… we are headed down next week to tour the schools… does anyone out there have any experience with either of these schools and their theater programs? Riverside is offering a better financial package but Fullerton is higher ranked. Thoughts anyone?
I want to add I was accepted to Cal poly SLO for theater but my dad said why spend all that money to go to school that’s really more about engineering. Ha ha.
This is based on one situation and thus it is extremely anecdotal, but I know of a theater major leaving SLO after one year because this person feels it is not creative enough there. The Fullerton program has a very good reputation, but Riverside is a better overall university. This is a time of year when universities are putting on theater productions. Any chance you can go to these places and catch a show and talk to some of the majors? Also, consider if there is a dominant theory or approach to the teaching in these programs.
