<p>Hi ThePowerOfOne, I applied to CSULB and awaiting my acceptance letter. Based on experience how competitive would you say the CSULB admissions are. My grades aren’t too great (2.4-3.0), I dont live in the are but I am a Cal resident.</p>

<p>tutudragon16, I don’t live in the dorms. My friend dorms at RLC, and she signed up for a double because it was cheaper. Her roommate never showed up, so now she has the dorm for herself. Her dorm is pretty tiny in my opinion. I think it is way too small for two people, but if it were for one person, I think it would be all right. I don’t know if the rest of the dorms are the same. Apparently, the food isn’t very good at the dorms. Then again, dorm food is never good anywhere. xD My friend tells me that they have a lot of activities at her residency so I’m assuming dorm life is active and you’ll be sure to make friends.</p>
<p>Until you’re admitted, you can’t do much online, but the ID number you should have received in an email does allow you to create a pin and check application status over the phone. Details were in the email.</p>

<p>Dorms…
My son is a freshman living in the suites. He loves to food (passion for tacos, skirt steak and orange chicken. Plus, free coke and ice cream.) To get your dorm of choice, sign-up for the housing the day it opens - it’s on a priority basis. You’ll get an email, but I remember it was around mid-Feb. There are a lot of returning students that dorm and many keep their same room, so be sure to choose your room the day your invited to - you could have a parent do it, since you’ll be at school and it opens at 9am. The system lets you pick the exact room based on what’s available. (If you’re going for a suite, go for a corner room as they are the largest.) You can get a floor plan with room numbers, if you do a dorm tour. Be aware that the suites are quieter and students tend to stay within their suite more. I don’t know anything about international house, RLC, or traditional dorms.</p>

Son got in with 3.67, APs and 28 ACT for Civil Eng which was not impacted. He is not from the area.</p>
<p>That info alone is the most I’ve heard of in months of scourging. Good to keep in mind especially due to the suite format, since international house does use the suite system. Also good to keep in mind the rush it’ll take since there probably would be many returning students as well. </p>
<p>Quiet is fine as well. I’m not going to be all that big on social/party scene anyhow.</p>
<p>^I remember from last year how “in the dark” my son felt. There aren’t many old posts here that have a lot of info. Plus, the board wasn’t too active last year. He didn’t know anyone from his hs that had gone to CSULB, so he really didn’t have anyone to ask either. I’ll check back every once in a while to see if I can answer any other questions. It’s always best to get an answer straight from a student, but not many come back to these boards once they start school.</p>
<p>He actually heard that he got in before Thanksgiving, but I know that was just because Eng was not anticipated to be full to capacity. Three other friends did not hear until toward the end of February. You will get a status change on your message when you dial in and you will get a written letter.</p>

I wanted to mention that a lot of the returning students won’t have a roommate. Having an upperclassman student has some great benefits, if that’s what appeals to you. My son lives with a freshman, but a buddy lives with a sophomore - he is the go-to guy for answering just about any CSULB question. You’ll see when you go to pick your roommate that the returning students room’s show that one bed is open.</p>
<p>Same situation, since I don’t really have any contacts in the school. In the dark isn’t a pleasant feeling, but at least I’m getting info here I’ve been wanting for a while. I feel I won’t know towards later, sadly psych is impacted unless they give me my alternate Japanese.</p>
<p>You can’t technically get accepted as a psychology major since it is an impacted major. You’ll most likely get in as pre-psychology major. Once you finish the required prerequisites, only then can you officially declare yourself in the respective department as a psychology major.</p>
