CSULB - Class of 2015

pre-reqs being?

im taking AP psych currently. im hoping a good score on that ap test will get me past psy 100 from the start

Here is more on being a psychology major: [How to Major in Psychology, Psychology, CSULB](http://www.csulb.edu/colleges/cla/departments/psychology/how_to_major/)

Definitely take your AP for psychology and all your other AP classes. Those credits will help you when you register for classes since those with the most credit get to register first.

On the subject of the majors,
is the major you put binding on the app?

If they accept me for a Psych or pre-psych major, I still could switch to Japanese and they’d still accept me right?

Yup it is non-binding. You could also double major in Japanese and Psychology, or major in one and minor in the other, if you can’t decide.

Ooo double major. That I was also considering, but wasn’t sure if I’d be able too.

Awesome!

They said they start notifying in February which starts tomorrow and I’m juiced.
CSULB is my safety school - but I love my safety school!
I hope we all hear back good news :)

hi so i have a 1660 on my sat and a 3.41 gpa but i did varisty soccer for 3 years and csulb is my home school. do u think ill get in? because i would be majoring in phyisica, therapy but i read that the major you chose does not effect your chances? is that true? thnaks for your help!

^I assume you are saying that you attended high school in the guaranteed admission service area. If so, you’ll be offered admission provided you complete all the course work i.e. 3 yrs math, 4 yrs English, etc. You’ll need to complete it all with a C or better and it’ll be smooth sailing. They do not look at sports, etc. on admissions decisions. They’ll ask for a copy of your final transcript after you graduate.

annnd February has begun.

may i wish all good news o.o including for me,

@soccerchick71149- Since you’re in the service area, you’re pretty much guaranteed to be accepted.

Just so you know though, a physical therapy degree is a GRADUATE degree, not an UNDERGRADUATE degree so you won’t be able to major in that until you first earn a Bachelor’s degree.

@The Power of One: acceptance chances for a kid (male) with a 3.0-3.1 GPA and a 1650 SAT? (These are projected stats for my son, who is a high school jr now).
Thanks.

@BfloGal: Unfortunately since your son is in NorCal, it’s going to be a slight reach.

To avoid having to take remedial (pre-baccalaureate work), you guys should make sure you have one of these things satisfied:
• A score of 500 or above on the critical reading section of the College Board SAT Reasoning Test

• A score of 3 or above on either the Language and Composition or Composition and Literature examination of the College Board Scholastic Advanced Placement Program
• Completion and transfer to CSU of the credits for a college course that satisfies the CSU General Education requirement in English Composition, provided such a course was completed with a grade of C or better
• A score of “Exempt” or “Ready for college-level English courses” on the CSU Early Assessment Program (EAP) taken along with the English Language Arts California Standard Test in grade 11.

And one of these satisfied:
• A score of 550 or above on the mathematics section of the College Board SAT Reasoning Test
• A score of 550 or above on a College Board SAT Subject Test in Mathematics (level 1 or level 2)
• A score of 23 or above on the American College Testing (ACT) Mathematics Test
• A score of 3 or above on the College Board Advanced Placement Calculus AB or Calculus BC exam
• A score of 3 or above on the College Board Advanced Placement Statistics examination
• Completion and transfer to CSU of a college course that satisfies the requirement in Quantitative Reasoning, provided such a course was completed with a grade of C or better
• A score of “Exempt” or “Ready for college-level Mathematics courses” on the CSU Early Assessment Program (EAP), taken in grade 11 in conjunction with the CST in Summative High School Mathematics or Algebra II
• A score of “Conditionally ready for college-level Mathematics courses” or “Conditional” on the CSU Early Assessment Program (EAP) taken in grade 11 along with the California Standards Test in Summative High School Mathematics or Algebra II, provided successful completion of a CSU-approved 12th grade math course that requires Algebra II as a prerequisite.

How were you all notified? E-mail, personal school site or via Mail?

As far as i know there is no online login for CSULB applicants. Please correct me if i’m wrong though.

@NYYanks- They’ll notify you with an acceptance or rejection ina letter sometime in March. In the information packet, they’ll send you directions on how to sign-up for their university website portal.

I am so nervous…Just sent in my transcripts. I think I am waitlisted for Cal Poly Pomona, which means that if I dont get into CSULB I will probably end up at CSUN (My last choice!).

:(

@mfergie889- Think positively! =]

call 1-562-985-2500 follow the prompts (press 2 then 3 then enter 1 for you campus id or 2 for social security number, enter that, then password and you will hear the status of your application). My daughters recording changed today, basically requesting transcripts.

I’ve been calling the automated system everyday since February 1st to check the status of my application. It still says, “We have received your application, and an initial review has been completed” and that’s basically it.
They sent me an email saying that they start notifying in February, and since I’m substantially above their average gpa/sat scores I’m hoping that I will be notified very soon.

Well I be damned!
I just called right now and it said “Congratulations!” provisional acceptance blah blah blah! YAAAAY!

I GOT IN YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

HECK YESSSSSSS!

(just need to send in my transcript,
