Hey trackman, I’m an international athlete. Thinking about CC and track (mid-distance runner). Haven’t talked to any coaches yet though. How about you?

Been stalking for a while so I thought I’d join in
Got into CSULB from Northern Nevada Im excited to be in a bug city (mine has like 10 thousand people in it)

But I have a question if anyone can answer:
The requirements say I need 3 math classes with a C or higher. This year I am taking AP Calc and most likely won’t get a C in it, but I have 3 math classes before that which I have gotten Cs or better. So would getting a D in a 4th math class affect my addmission?

Thank you!

AWESOMENESS, another person from Nevada that got accepted into CSULB! :)

@youpaparazzi- As far as covering the math requirement, you should be fine. Unfortunately, if you’re going to fail AP calc, you should call them and ask them if your acceptance will be rescinded or not.

youpaparazzi,
You should definitely call admissions. The eligibility cut-off for out-of-state is higher, so as PowerOfOne said, you met the math requirement, but you need to make sure you make the eligibility requirement, too.

The eligibility index is calculated by using either the SAT or ACT as follows:
* SAT (scores in mathematics and critical reading) + (800 x high school grade point average)
* (10 x ACT composite score without the writing score) + (200 x high school grade point average)

The HS GPA is the 10-12 GPA, including your senior year, of A-G courses. Tell them this number when you call.

Thanks guys, I’ll call to see what they say. I don’t plan on failing, but a D isn’t too good either.

It was a long a tedious process but I finally made my decision. I am officially accepting CSULB and very happy with my final choice.

Turned down:
UCSD, UCI, UCR, CSF, CSN, CSUSB

GO! California State University Long Beach. See you all in the future!

you turned down ucsd for long beach O.o

dudee.

but yay more long beachians

LOL I know I get that look a LOT, but theres more then just prestige to take into consideration and I think long beach is a great school. I will say it was not an easy decision but overall I feel that I don’t see too much of a loss attending long beach. :)

true words rising, very true words.

long beach ftw

I’m a junior with a gpa of 3.3 and not from the area. I want to major in dance and i hear it’s really hard to get into?? I’ve been dancing for 13 years. Are the people who don’t get in just not good at all?

Enidandance, if you’ve been dancing for 13 years I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to get in :] Just get good scores on your SATs and bring your gpa up a bit.

So what dorms is everyone planning on living in? The Residential Learning College was my first choice. I visited them and they were REALLY nice.

international house for me im hoping

@RisingSun13- You sound like me a year ago. Congrats on your decision! :]

@enidandance- Dance isn’t an impacted major. If you get accepted, I don’t see a problem with you getting dance as a major.

Turned in my housing app before deadline.

My Dorm Choices:

RLC

International House

Residence Commons

Quiet Hall

Parkside

Alamos, Cerritos (Traditional)

@risingsun, RLC was definitely my first choice too. When I took a tour there, I asked the tour guide if it was hard to get a spot in the RLC, and he said that it’s not really well known yet because it’s only been open two years. So I think we both have a good shot!

The traditional dorms were my last choice too haha. Long Beach has the most diverse types of dorms that I have ever seen at a school, so I wouldn’t want to stick to the traditional ones.

@blondie

Oh definitely, I think their dorms are very diverse. Thats great news, I definitely hope to get into RLC. cross our fingers, see you there for breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Hopefully! See you there too haha

Hi, so I put in my housing application a long time ago and still haven’t been notified about anything, is there any way I could check my status or something, does anyone else have info on their housing status?

Enidandance, Hi, I auditioned as a dance major and I made it, I’ve been dancing since I was like 2, it’s a very good program, they don’t just take everyone
