@afitz: Just log back onto the housing application and click on continue application and the page that comes up will either say you are finished with the application or in the left corner it will say that your housing fee has not been received.

They really audition people for Dance at CSULB?

So there’s no other information beyond that yet?

Yes, of course they do! it’s actually quite a prestigious program. College dance auditions are extremely competitive

roommate selection is may 12th-15th or so i believe. then we pick rooms june. and SOAR registration in may as well. asides from that no other infor recived really no

Nope nothing yet.

Good job getting into the dance program then!!! :]

thanks everyone, this thread has been really helpful. I’m admitted but I’m still on a waiting list for a different school

Oh okay. Well Long Beach is an amazing school :] What other school are you waiting on?

I’m waiting on university of Georgia which they’re supposed to notify me starting may 15th if I get in I’d rather go there. I don’t live in the area, can anyone tell me about the area? it didn’t seem very appealing when visited and I know long beach doesn’t have a great safety reputation. Is this true or did I have a bad experience?

the city of long beach isnt the safest, but the college is in a very good area. rich estates and stuff surround the school, so think of the “bad part” of town, being well on the other side of town.

being born and raised in southern California i have to say im glad im not leavign the region

even if you’re not living on campus?

I live in northern Chicago and dying to get out!

If you’re not living on campus I’m afraid it might be a bit expensive

What would you consider expensive?
I’m looking at studio apartments in the area and they seem to be ranging 700-900ish$

Oh really? hmmm that’s actually not too bad! I live in Riverside and in our “ghetto” areas the studio apartments cost around 800 dollars too, so I was thinking that Long Beach would cost soooo much more because it is in a nice area and is close to the beach. But wow, that’s pretty affordable if you have a steady job OR if you’re lucky enough to have parents that would pay your rent haha.

Regarding the ‘choosing your roommate’ dates, are those for people who already have someone in mind to room with, like a best friend or can you actually pick a person you’ve never met? I’m from northern CA and will know absolutely no one, but am excited to get a roommate, so I’m just curious.

I believe it’s for everyone! remember in the housing application, they asked you like a survey so you can match for roommates? Don’t worry, I’m from Chicago, not going to know anyone as well

This is insane! I’m so excited because its exactly 8 days until we get to start choosing roommates! I don’t know anyone whos going to LB either >.<

“I don’t live in the area, can anyone tell me about the area? it didn’t seem very appealing when visited and I know long beach doesn’t have a great safety reputation. Is this true or did I have a bad experience?”

Long Beach is just like every other californian city, with good areas and bad areas. But the School itself is, i believe, rated one of the top schools for student safety on the West Coast.

CSULB was ranked as the third most secure university in Magazine’s ‘Security 500’ Rankings.

wow, thanks
That’s much less unsettling. Everyone keeps telling me to watch myself if I go out there

Well honestly you should watch yourself WHEREVER you go.

Just reminding you all that roommate requests start today! You may either request a specific person or request someone from a list of people whose profiles match yours the most.
