CSULB - Class of 2015

I can’t wait to register for class. But so nervous for the CPT! Did anyone take it yet? Is it hard?

hey everybody, just thought i’d post on here cause i might be seeing some of you this fall. i’m samantha, & i’m a biology major(:

oh, & rainsonata i’ll be at the chem placement test tooo on tuesday. did you ever get a confirmation for registering for that ?

@adaytoremember: I got a receipt from them by email. Hey, I’m majoring in biology too! It kinda sucks to be stuck in one day for SOAR. Some of the classes I want are already waitlisted. Let’s hope we pass the test and get the classes we want :D.

BTW, how are you studying for the test? I using my SAT II Chemistry Study Guide book, but I have a feeling that the test won’t cover all of the subjects SAT went over like organic chemistry.

hmm, i never got an email  when did you get yours ? i don’t know exactly what classes i need / want yet. i guess i’ll find out, ahah.

anyways, i’m just going to review some of the old material i have from honors / ap chemistry that i took in highschoool. i’m not going to try too hard, because if i don’t already know the stuff i’m not meant to move up. but i agree, i don’t think organic will be on there. there’s a list up somewhere with what topics it covers.

sorry if this has already been answered, but how hard is it to get admitted into this school? I was considering it as a safety

@jojou: It’s not that hard. There are people who got in with less than 3.5 average. but if you’re transferring, it might be easier to get it. They don’t look into your school curriculum or make you write an essay. CSULB is my backup school actually. UCs are getting too picky this year :(.

@adaytoremember: After I registered for my Science Safari online and paid it, CSULB sent me a note thanking me for registering for SOAR. The letter sounds something like this:

Are you taking the MPDT? I thought I was exempted from it because of my SAT score in math, but apparently they didn’t seem to give me direct answers if I can skip the test. So I might have to take the test in the ends. How troublesome. Math isn’t that bad, but it’s still annoying to have 2 tests within one day in the summer.

oh, i got the confirmation for the science safari, but i never got a confirmation for registering for the chemistry placement test–that’s why i was asking. i’m not sure if we are supposed to be confirmed or not.

yes, i am exempt from the mdpt. originally i emailed the lady in charge of that to register, & i got an email confirming my registration. a few days later though, i got another email saying i’m exempt from it because i got a 3 on the ap calc test. so i don’t have to show up for that test. if they didn’t directly tell you that you were exempt, you probably have to take it–but no i understand, i didn’t want to take two either. i hardly want to take one aha.

I sent them an email with my student info to register, but I didn’t get a confirmation back or anything else from them. I wish I was exempted. They said that if you got a 610 on the SAT II Math 2, you can be exempted. My score was online and bypassed that number, so I’m confused of why they haven’t responded to me yet. I can’t call them because it’s a holiday and Tuesday will be too late. I guess I’ll have to come to take the test and try to ask them about it. I have the papers for evidence, so I’m hoping that I can miraculously skip that test. I didn’t take AP Calc >_<

When registering for the test, I think you’re supposed to come to the test site with the registration paper.

In the worse case scenario, I’ll just have to take that math placement test. Math is easier for me than chemistry, so hopefully it won’t be so bad.

well that just sucks. i know, i tried to call just to make sure i was registered for the chem test. well i hope it all works out for you tomorrow ! haha, i’l probably see you. i should. what’s your name ?

and, yeah. i guess i’ll just do that. worst case i’ll just have to take the next placement test or take the lower chem test.

@adaytoremember: CSULB is sometimes inconvenient in answering their phone calls or replying back to emails. I’m bringing all of my important documents and registration evidence to back me up. I just want to register for my classes already. I’m having my eyes out on Calc I, Chemistry 111A, and Japanese 101. I don’t care about my 4th class.

My name’s Olivia. I’ll be that Asian girl with the glasses and carry a bag with anime characters on it. Your name is Samantha, right?

haha no i understand. i think i’ll bring things of that sort as well. i’m not sure what i should be taking yet ! i know i need chemistry 111A if i pass the placement test, and math 119b or math 123. aside from those i’m not sure though.

ahaha, oh my god. you sound exactly like my little sister. haha, i couldn’t believe it when i read your reply. her name is olivia, she wears glasses, & she’s obsessed with anime. anyways, yeah i’m samantha(: you can’t miss me. i’ll be the indian girl with black hair & red highlights(: i’ll be sure to look for you, haha.

Good luck on your placement tests!

can some of you guys do me a favor and list out your award packages?
My dependency override was approved but was curious before my package goes through what your aid broke down into.

A few pages ago, some of you guys listed that you received ~17k in aid. Can you guys break it down into SUG amounts / CalGrant / Pell / Stafford / Perkins for me? Greatly appreciated.
