@tutudragon but im technically not a new student. in my portal it doesnt give me the option to accept or decline since im only provisionally admitted…

does that make sense?

i’m provisionally admitted too.

it means we’re going to be new students for the fall 2011 term. only returning guys who dormed there last term can apply for housing now.

we can starting next month

Blah system is downn… I’m sadd

Someone mentioned having to take GE classes at RLC. This is correct. This is good so you don’t have to travel to campus for certain classes. However, it does limit you to certain teachers and times. Also, depending on your schedule, you may have go back between RLC and the campus. With that said, it takes a couple minutes to go between the campus and RLC IF YOU TAKE THE SHUTTLE.

The Power of One. You don’t have to take the classes do you? It’s not mandatory right?

Also When did you get accepted to LB? Cause i’m stilll waiting. When is the deadline for admittance?

@kagw11- My friend dorms at RLC, and apparently she is required to take certain GEs there. I was accepted last year. I’m a freshmen at CSULB.

@tutudragon, do we pay the deposit and everything? cause technically were not admitted til after we grad right. this provisional **** is confusing.

technically not admitted unti lwe grad yet. but at time of applying the 400$ depsoit is due

(fun right? yay first college expense, >>

Provisional Admittance:
Your provisions are spelled out in your acceptance letter. After you officially graduate from high school, you’ll have your high school send your transcript to csulb. They will review it to ensure the provisions are met. Basically, you’re only going to lose your admission if you drop a required class or receive below a C- that significantly lowers your GPA. You could lose it for lying on your application or getting suspended from school, but that won’t apply to you. You’ll get an email when you are officially admitted.

Housing:
March 1, you’ll create a housing application through the csulb portal. It has a preferences checklist for things like sleeping habits, music, etc. It also asks you to rank the order of your dorm preferences. You can pay the $400 online. They’ll apply that to your first semester housing bill. It is not refundable.

Next, you’ll get an email saying you can communicate with prospective roommates. You can use this to find a roommate. If you use it, both people link to each other so the system knows that they both agree. If you want to go random, you just skip this step. During this time, you may receive emails from people who might want to room with you.

Next, you’ll get an email that tells you the date and time for going back into the portal and picking your dorm and room. Your time is determined by the date you paid your housing deposit i.e. if you paid March 1, you get first pick on dorm and room (returning students have already picked by then). If your roommate gets a later sign up time then you, the earlier person can lock in the dorm and room for both (2nd person still has to go thru the process).

Oct, why are you so awesome and helpful?

That clears up so much o.o

And at least now I get hth the money and rooming process even works,

I know I’m just popping up but I have a questions about acceptance to CSULB. I just got accepted today (yay!) and I was so worried because I’m out of state and I have low test scores but good GPA and grades. Anyways my question is when are we supposed to send out official transcripts? After we receive our acceptance letter?

You send your transcript after you graduate. The due date for fall 2011 is July something, so you have plenty of time don’t worry

Oh my gosh thanks so much because I was totally lost, I’m a first generation college student so I’m basically learning the IN’s and OUT’s along the way.

Eva don’t worry, I’m in th exact same boat. Being the eldest as well makes it worse. I pretty much learned everything I needed to know on these forums because there some awfully nice and helpful people around here.

On a side note, HOUSING OPENS TMW FOR NEW STUDENTS YAAAY

*Monday

(got a bit too excited there,

Really?! Nice!

*Tuesday

My sense of time is shot this week,

So I did the numbers, and after reading the number of first-time freshman admitted (3,900) and transfer students (3,300) for fall 2011, I’ve concluded that the acceptance rate altogether for both transfer and freshmen was 12.76, rounded up to 13%.

excluding transfers, the acceptance rate for new undergrad freshman was 9.76, rounded up to 10%.

TEN PERCENT ACCPETANCE RATE *** O.O

when did a cal state become MIT-selective,

They aren’t selective per se. They just don’t have enough spots for their 70,000+ applicants.
