I'm a ninth grader who is considering attending CTD Equinox this summer; I need help choosing a course if I do decide to go. I definitely lean towards the humanities in both my preferences and my abilities, so I was thinking of taking either the Creative Writing or the Philosophy Honors course. I enjoy both subjects equally, and I can see myself spending three weeks studying either one (while I've never taken a formal class in those subjects, I've been exposed to both throughout the years), and if anyone has any information (about CTD, academic quality at CTD, about either or both courses) that could help me tip the balance, I would really appreciate hearing it! Thank you so much.

By the way--I do realize that this year's courses aren't yet posted on CTD's website; I'm just assuming that those two courses, at least, will be back for this year.

My son has attended CTD at Northwestern the past two summers -- and I can tell you that you can't go wrong when selecting a course. They are all excellent. The teachers, the students, the subjects -- if you are interested in a class, it would be a good choice.

I'm a Junior who is considering taking it this summer too. I'm thinking about taking their Precalculus Honors course because I want to be able to take Calculus senior year.

FYI, CTD has just changed their policy ... I was on the phone with them today, as I have two ninth graders (both previous attendees). It used to be that Spectrum was for 7-8-9 and Equinox was for 10-11-12; now, 9th graders can choose either Spectrum or Equinox. My son has taken creative writing, non fiction writing, and literary analysis. PM me and I can arrange for you to "talk" to him in email. Both my daughter and son have loved it and plan to go back this upcoming summer. THe courses won't be posted til mid-December, according to the woman I spoke with, because of this policy change.

The policy change is confusing -- and the grades are misleading on the website. It seems that a student going into 9th (which is what my son is) could "choose" to go to either Spectrum or Equinox.

My son took non-fiction writing honors and it was excellent.

I am not sure his is returning to CTD this year -- he is also looking at the Middlebury language camp and the andover summer session. He wants to work on his spanish and CTD doesn't offer spanish. He may stick with CTD, though. He has really enjoyed it.
