CTY's Study of Exceptional Talent

Well, I can't really find a thread for this, so here it is: the thread for JHU CTY's SET (whew, that was a lot of acronyms). Questions from students, parents, teachers, etc., are welcome!

In case you haven't heard of SET, students qualify for it by scoring 700+ on the SAT CR/M at age 12. It's run by Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth.

Let’s play the “How many hours per day did your parents make you study for the SAT at age 12” game!

I’ll go first: 0, because I’m an introvert

Sigh, if only I knew about SET before I take SAT for CTY. Else I would have put in more effort to jump from 600 to 700 for my math score.

ZZZZ. 800 first try, with half the time left.

Lol, I didn’t actually study. Unless you count reading? 730 CR.

lol, ye i didnt study, only 4 years old, 800 math, but only 790, reading, my parents are pretty disappoint after the prenatal tutoring turned out to be, a, honking flop

Pfft I got a 540 on the math in 8th grade like a boss. And that was my highest out of the three scores…

This honestly isn’t meant to be a joke thread, but I can see how it might become one :P

My 810 on math was considered quite good before all these asians came in with their 900s

@theskittlebug, you aren’t going to find too many SET members just clicking on your thread… is the Cogito site still active? My D2 used to be very active on there and met other kids with super high test scores in middle school there who are still her friends years later (she is in college now).

@intparent I think so… I was sent info on it when I joined. Thanks :D
