Okay I am a resident in Texas and University of Colorado at Boulder and Purdue are my top choices for out of state. I am aware that out of state is expensive but which one would give me a better bang for my buck? I am also worried of the social aspect of both schools.
HEEELLPP!!!

What do you hope to major in? Purdue has world-class engineering programs. A friend of mine visited Purdue, and for what it's worth he said that there was tons of school spirit.

I don't know much about UC-Boulder.

boulder is kind of a party school... but it has pretty good engineering and business program

Boulder has a great engineering program if you get into Honors, and out of 25,000 students, there are surely plenty of them who don't party much if you aren't into that. Also, the two have very different atmospheres -- Boulder is an outdoorsy town, lots of mountains, skiing, athletics...don't know much about Purdue

I applied there (CU) and got a $55,000 scholarship over 4 years, without sending in anything extra or anything. I think that one is more rare but the top 10% of out of state students automatically get $15k

For undergrad, it probably doesn't matter that much where you go as long as you do well, if you plan on getting further degrees

CU Boulder has excellent math, science and engineering programs. It helps that in town we have three major government research facilities: NOAA, NIST, and NCAR plus a number of high tech and bio engineering companies.

Is CU a party school? Well we do have more than our share of rich, stupid, out-of-state students who come here to ski and drink beer, but thankfully the new ecconomy is keeping many of those students home! At CU Boulder, there are many smart, dedicated and hardworking students to hang out with.

As a bonus, Boulder is an amazing place to live. The weather is great and there are so many things to do. You could have a really fun four years here without ever having to pick up a beer.

In my experience I would recommend CU Bolder. I had lived right next to purdue previously and that school is also a party school and pretty crappy. It really depends on what you want to major, but in west lafayette and lafayette, there are pretty much nothing to do. Also, both schools give plenty of scholarships to out of state. And just a question, why do you want to go to out of state? I mean texas-austin and texas a&m are way much better school compared to those schools and way much cheaper also.

It really depends on your personality preferences . CU Boulder is a very liberal type school with a lot of liberal kids. Purdue is more on the conservative side. If you can visit, do so and see where you fit if the academics are all the same to you at either school. As others have said, the engineering programs at Purdue are quite rigorous and well known.

I would like to go out of state because I HATE TEXAS!!!
And I plan on majoring in economics but taking my masters elsewhere.

what?????
wow i have almost never seen anybody who hates texas while he or she lives in texas.....
i mean...all of them are like hardcore cowboys fan....

HAHAA! I know! But I wasn't born in texas so that love does not exist.
