University of Colorado- Boulder

Just wondering what life overall is like in CU-Boulder? Is there a lot to do? I hear there is a huge bar scene which sounds nice .. how are the people, are the generally intelligent or a bunch of kids who only care about partying? Do they grade on a curve? Also what is there to do besides the parties? Is the town pretty dead or does a lot usually go on? If anyone could help that would be great and possibly if theres anything I left out that might be important feel free to add it in!! thanks

bump.. anyone?

Boulder is an awesome town, but it's also a pretty wealthy area which means that the off campus housing is going to cost you. It's a great school if you like the outdoors. Tons of opportunities to ski/snowboard, go hiking, etc. The party scene is pretty big - lots of drinking (like most schools), but also tons of marijuana use. The town has a bit of a hippy/yuppie feel to it.

A large number of wealthy kids from California end up at Boulder. They go to the school to party and snowboard. You also have a lot of kids who go to the school for its excellent engineering program. Like any school with 30,000+ students, you are going to have some smart students and some not so smart students.

Out of state tuition is extremely expensive (around $25,000), which really discouraged me from applying.

Pros: Solid school academically, great college town, good social scene, great outdoor opportunities, beautiful campus

Cons: Expensive out of state tuition, expensive housing, large student body, huge campus
