I am completely torn between CUE and COOP. At first it was COOP for sure and then it was CUE. And now of course its both - the only problem being is that very soon I'll have to make a choice. And the opportunity cost will be the other awesome program :(

Anyone else finding it hard to decide? Anyone done one and didn't like it? Someone want to take it upon themselves to convince me one way or the other?

--About (from past participants)--

CUE: The mission of CUE is to get Columbia students involved in their community even before they officially set foot on campus! CUE-ers come to campus a week early, do community service during the day in amazing sites all throughout the city, and then participate in incredible night activities at night to get even more familiar with the city. Through the week there are panels of academic advisors to help ease the nerves of entering into college, panels of community activists to introduce CUE-ers to great community service opportunities at Columbia and in the neighborhoods, and dinner discussions to further get the mind rolling on what it means to engage in community service. At the end of the week there is a KILLER scavenger hunt around the city! One of the best parts of CUE is the community of CUE-ers and upper classman leaders that will stay with you for all your time here! CUE-ers come from all undergraduate schools, Columbia College, Barnard College, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, School of General Studies, and List College (JTS).Columbia Urban Experience

COOP:COOP is AWESOME. You guys should all definitely apply, it's not super competitive to get in because we want to give lots of first-years the opportunity to go on an amazing trip and meet tons of cool people. I'd say about 200 or so first-years take part in COOP so it's not a huge percentage, but it's a great way to meet new people and have instant friends when orientation starts / everyone will think you are cool because you have been in New York City a week longer than they have. Also, moving in early and beating the rush is a HUGE advantage that will all make sense when you see the lines at the elevators in Carman and John Jay.[url=http://www.columbia.edu/cu/sa/coop/]CO
