Cumulative Student Loans

I think I might have seen in a post that there is a way to log in to the federal student loan database and see what a particular student's cumulative student loans are. Did I imagine that or can someone point me in the right direction?

Are you trying to look at your OWN student loans, or somebody else’s? I can help you if you’re trying to see your own information, but your post makes it sound like you’re trying to look up someone else’s loan balances.

Anyway, what you do is log onto the FAFSA website, then click on the tab of the most recent year. Then click “View processed information” (PDF or HTML). Scroll to the bottom of the document that gets generated and all of the loan balances should be there.

I’m looking for the information for my daughter. She is one semester away from receiving her master’s and just wants to make sure her ducks are in a row.

OK then. I hope what I posted makes sense, let me know if it works.

It does and it did. Thanks much.

The post you’re looking for is [this one](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/14718308-post23.html).

Students should check this link often, beginning with the first loan they borrow. I had a student who did this, and she found that an unsub loan she had cancelled right after borrowing was still showing up (and accumulating interest). I verified that it had been cancelled, and I verified that it was cancelled in the government COD system. However, somewhere between the COD system and the NSLDS database, the loan did not get cancelled. COD verified that it had sent a cancellation record to NSLDS, but it still took 13 months (I kid you not!) to get it removed from NSLDS. If this student had not taken responsibility for monitoring her loans, she would have repaid a $5500 unsub loan (with interest) that she did not actually borrow. Be wise consumers!

Here is a great site for repayment information: [Student loan repayment calculator](<a href=“Mapping Your Future: Page not found”>Mapping Your Future: Page not found).
