I'm trying to figure out how much I have left to borrow in student loans. My total all loans is stated to be: $26,232, But I have two different sub loans and two different unsub loan types. I am still a freshman student so I can only receive $5,500 and One school year I received the Additional Unsub amount of $4,000. I'm trying to figure out if I am over or If my loans are being miscalculated please help Thanks!!

Hold on . . . you’re confusing me! Can you please list out the years you’ve been in college (for example, 2012-13, 2013-14) and the types of loans you took out and the amounts you borrowed each year? Really, make a neat list and spell it all out so we can see it. Once you’ve done that, it should be possible to figure out if there’s been a mistake. Thanks!

Ok sorry!,These are the titles and amounts I have received thus far

2009-2010: Stafford Sub= 3,557, Stafford Unsub = 2,175

2010-2011: Direct Sub = 3,500, Direct Unsub = 2,000

2011-2012: Direct Sub = 3,500, Direct Unsub: 2,000 + Extra 4,000 For Denied Parent Plus.

2012-2013 Direct Sub = 3,500, Direct Unsub: 2,000

Total = 26,232

I Just Need Loans For One More year until 2015 I am still considered an dependent so My limit is 31,000 , I’m trying to figure out if I am reaching my limit or will be able to get some of my loans?

“I am still a freshman student”

Oh my!

What is your plan? You’ve borrowed WAY TOO MUCH to only still be a freshman. How does this happen? Are you changing your major over and over again? Are you taking too few classes?

This is such a bad plan. How do you plan on funding the rest of your education when you’ve borrowed too much just as a frosh???

Who has been advising you? To have borrowed $26k to complete freshman year’s worth of classes is way too much! I’m shocked that any school has allowed this!

Your actual aggregate amount borrowed as a dependent student is $22,232 of $31,000. You can borrow another $8768 as a dependent undergrad student. That is it. I am also concerned about the amount you have borrowed without progressing in school. I would suggest that perhaps you take some time off to mature. Work and save some money before going back. You have wasted a lot of money, and to borrow more if you are not ready to make the most of school is not wise.

Sorry Not a freshman I Meant No longer A freshman, I am a dependent student

Thanks Kelsmom! This semester I am trying to redeem myself academically, I Do plan to take a break after may, just to reevaluate somethings, I do appreciate the help and concern very much!

Also is there anyway to remove this thread now that my question has been answered please???

Reading through this, I’d guessed you meant “dependant” and not “freshman” - glad I was right!

Don’t worry about removing the thread. Just stop posting to it and it will quickly disappear into the great black hole of old threads . . .

Yeah My mistake Dodgersmom lol!! Ok I just wanted my information removed since my answer was received
