I was accepted into CUNY Baruch College as well as Syracuse and the latter is where I’m leaning towards.
CUNY Baruch’s tuition is about $6.8k/year. Net cost is about $8.1k/year
Syracuse’s’ tuition is about $45.3k/year. Net cost is about $23k/year
My parents can pay up to $10k/year, and I can pay the remaining costs with some loans, I’m not exactly sure how much in loans I’ll be taking, though. Syracuse is certainly more appealing but Baruch offers a chance to graduate debt-free.
I also may go the CPA route, so post-grad costs might be a factor as well. I’m a NYC resident by the way, so Baruch would be a commuter.
Any help would be appreciated, thank you very much.
I don’t think Syracuse is worth the extra money. Baruch has a very strong accounting program and it’s low cost makes it really attractive if you want to go to grad school.
Baruch College is a school that is dedicated for business majors. Baruch College students have won big stock trading competitions, making Baruch’s name well known in the financial world. Baruch being a dedicated business college near Wall Street is a good thing, you will have lots of opportunities for internships in your fall/spring semester than people who are much further away from Wall Street. Syracuse University is a good school, but for the price and education available at Baruch College for business students, especially accounting students, it makes more sense to pick Baruch College.

For Accounting Baruch over Syracuse. The Big 4, as well as other large well know CPA firms recruit from Baruch.
