CUNY Honors College

i didnt gett innn =\ i explained it in my other posts if anyone is interested =)

There's a facebook group for Hunter MHC '12 and City as well (i think)
I don't think they show up in the searchs though...you can through to them through the Baruch group.

collegebound.......you'll be fine. I mean, there're so many other colleges. And...
something'll work out. =D

got in macaulay at baruch, anybody know if i would be able to get financial aid for an apartment? if not id have to take the train from suffolk everyday :(

Ok, so I've retaken some tests....can someone help me out with my chances?

ACT - 33
SAT:
verbal:730
math:710
writing:700

My GPA is a 4.14 and my class rank is 16 out of 246.

I've got an awesome extra-curricular record and I'm very happy with my essays. I've also send in 6 letters of rec. In addition to all of that, I've sent in a CD recording of one of my musical compositions and a resume. I've given them EVERYTHING they want, plus some....so what do you guys think? Will I get in? I'm applying to Hunter....so?

^^ you have a solid chance. Macaulay is strange in selection sometimes.. It's not all about the highest grades and w/e, Especially in Hunter. You just have to wait and see. Good luck tho.

Oh. And trumpetkid -
Make sure to interact with the Macaulay Enrollment Director or the Macaulay Director at Hunter. If this is one of your top choices, just make sure you drop in...and make sure they know your face/who you are. Don't over do it though...but drop by in person (if you can) and ask specific questions you would like to know. Like whether they conduct interviews or not. Like that.
As for everything else...you're fine. =D No SAT IIs?

I have SAT IIs, but didn't send them, as I don't have them back yet and I don't think my scores are going to be the best. I should be ok without them though, right?

And I've already visited the school and been in contact with some of the advisiors.

Thanks for the advice!

Oh f! did we need an official trascript sent or would they just use my OSIS?

They say that giving them your OSIS # is OK.However, in my experience they did not get my transcrpit online so I had to send it in 1 day before the deadline.. I would advise you to just send a paper copy as well, only costs about a dollar.

This is kindof a random question, but what is the model of laptop that students recieve? I know it's a mac, but is it a macbook or a macbook pro? And is it YOURS, or on loan from the school?

its a macboook.

and when do we find out about regular. I applied to cuny hunter honors which is notified on march 15. it says that reagular hunter will be jan 15th on a rolling basis. do people get near the 15th or can it go all the way up to feb?

Is there any chance of me being rejected ? Is regular hunter a safety for me? Is hunter honors a safety?

School: Bx sci or stuyvesant
92 gpa
31 act
ec's: program at columbia med, research, medical internships

Can anyone tell me the chances of me getting in? (for Macaulay Honors @ Baruch)

School: Stuyvesant
GPA: 91.3 (but it's unweighted, and it's at Stuy, so...)
SAT: 1480/2230 (680R, 800M, 750W)
EC's: Internship at Museum of City of NY, took a course at NYU over the summer, various academic stuff
SAT IIs:
- Biology (molecular) - 680 ( :[ )
- Chemistry - 750
- Math IIC - 780

Fatfree, it seems like you have a solid chance..Do you have a job, or any volunteering? They really stress engaging in something other than school.
Collegehopeful71,I would say that regular hunter is a safety for you. Honors at hunter isn't a safety for anyone.

"and when do we find out about regular. I applied to cuny hunter honors which is notified on march 15. it says that reagular hunter will be jan 15th on a rolling basis. do people get near the 15th or can it go all the way up to feb?"

I just checked my online account and it says I was admitted to regular Hunter so you should go check yours, too.

charmingangelc - Where did it say you were admitted already?!!?!?

I'm on CUNY's portal thingy, and I logged in, and I don't see any status link or anything...

Ugh.
The CUNY portal like never works. It's really problematic, so be patient with it.
And besides, it's on a rolling basis, so perhaps you'll come up later.
Good luck everyone, and I hope to see you guys next year at MHC Hunter!

Collegedreamer - The portal thing is confusing. Though I found out the other day I got into regular Hunter.

Which doesn't mean much, since I'm overqualified for just regular Hunter. Gah waiting till March 15th is annoying.

Because right now it's between one other school I got into and Hunter, essentially.

Perfectedxchaos - I'm in basically the same boat. It's between MHC and 2 other schools and I really just want to know about MHC one way or the other so I can make my decision.

Exactly the same thing here. For me, it's either Binghamton or CUNY Hunter Honors. But if I get into CUNY Hunter Honors, I need to visit first before I make this big decision.

What other schools are you thinking of?
