CUNY Honors

lol i have checked my facts, in fact when you told me about this i asked two other students who were waitlisted and they said this basically isn't possible. but congrats to your friend anyway. i guess times may have change, the class is getting more competitive, and $30 mil was donated. maybe this may have something to do with it.

so what do you think... THIS over NYU CAS?

Yes, definitely Baruch Honors over NYU.

why
what makes you say that...
its not Baruch honors exactly... its Baruch College Honors Program as a Baruch Scholar...

well if you CLAIM the incentive to matriculate is the same as macaulay, then why not?

thats what THEY say

I don't know about every other year, but this year all Baruch honor students get a free laptop, full tuition scholarship and a few other things as well. I'm not a hundred percent sure, but I think that unlike students who were admitted through Macaulay Honors College, Baruch honor students do not get the $7500 to travel abroad (Not to buy a car like someone mentioned)lol Also they are not able to take courses at any other cuny. (Another amazing privilege of MHC) I did attend both, Cuny honors dinner back in November of 2006 and more recently an orientation for Macaulay honor students. However, I'm just a student, so I'm not a hundred percent sure about all of the differences between these two programs myself. What I do know is that every MHC student at Baruch is also in the Baruch honors program. As far as choosing which college is best for you, I think that MHC as well as Baruch honors program are better than Stern (NYU). There are so many things that MHC has that no other college can offer. I'm gearing towards business/law/psychiatry, therefore for me, Baruch is definitely the best out of any other cuny. After a very comprehensive college research over this summer, I did early decision to MHC at baruch. I wouldn't choose any other college over this program and it's not just because of the free tuition and the laptop. I hope you found some of this helpful.

You got in both? If you don't mind me asking, what high school do you go to? What was your sat/average?

who are you referring to? I go to CHC (or MHC, now). I'm a freshman at Baruch. search my posts for stats.

ok
so what does baruch honors college (scholars) offer that other schools dont...
my friend got a letter saying: "unfortunately we cannot offer you a seat in the Macaulay Honors College.... you have been accepted to the Baruch College Honors Program as a Baruch Scholar..."

I'm new to this website, so I didn't know that each member has a profile with all the stat. Research it. go to baruch honors website. Everything is there.

It doesn't say on your profile that you go to baruch. Maybe I'm looking at something else.

lol i meant that if you look at my previous posts by clicking on my username (not my stats profile), you can probably find my stats.

hey biggyboy, what courses are you taking at Baruch? how fair is the grading? how is your college experience in general?

Hi,
I am an International student from and was recently admitted as a Baruch Scholar and also to Claremont McKenna for the class of 2011.Yes, Baruch Scholars too has a macbook, and full tuition scholarship and all and the stipend as well I suppose.
What I wanted to know is, I know Claremont McKenna is one of the top liberral arts colleges in the country, I applied for financial aid but I didnt get any. So now the decision I have to make is, Claremont McKenna, or Baruch Scholars. How good is it? How does it compare to CMC? Where will I stand at the end of 4 years? Can I transfer out of Baruch Scholars? Do the top firms recuit frequently from there? Will my next door neighbour know where I go to school? YOur comments will be highly appreciated. I've got around 5-10 days to basically salvage my life.

yes, all the top firms recruit from baruch. however, if you still want to transfer, your chances of being admitted are greater when coming from a nyc college to a liberal arts school in california. so not a bad deal.

Good Egg...Then thats it,CUNY it is...by the way....I'm from India...I just realized I didn't mention that. One more thing...what the heck is a Bearcat? I don't recall any animal looking like a bear and a cat.

haha i don't really know either but binghamton has the same mascot.

See thats the problem with public schools, its come down to sharing mascots. Anyway, I know the CUNY Honors program matches up and maybe even surpasses NYU,or some other top 20-30 schools, but does the "new and improved" Baruch Honors Program fit the same bracket? I suppose the only difference now, is that in the CUNY Honors program you can take classes at other CUNY colleges.

yeah i guess.
