CUNY, not fulfilled math requirement

I am thinking about applying to CUNY-city college this winter for the fall quarter of 2012 and also apply for the spring (just in case). My adviser at my CC told me that I am set to graduate with an AA next June and I currently have a 3.0 GPA (hopefully after this fall quarter it will raise more!)

My only dilemma holding me back from applying now is that I don't have any math credits or completed a college level math course. I have completed my college level English requirement but not the math. I am in a two week math review class to help me catch up on what I didn't take and hopefully I can take the accuplacer test and test out of the requirement.

Although I ridiculously bad at math (which is why I avoided it like the plague these past 2 years until now). I don't know what to to. I am thinking about taking the ACT after this review class and see how it goes and hopefully I will make above a 21 (the required level to get into CUNY from what the site says).

Anyone knows what advice they could give to help? Or anyone that was in my shoes?
