Curious about Law School

What is law school like? Is it difficult? What skills/knowledge I need to know to attend law school?

Difficult? It depends. I didn’t think it was that hard, but it was very intense, at least back in the day.

First year we were all obsessed by learning and mastering the material and being ready for those socratic questions in class. Some students were trying to stand out, asking questions and volunteering answers. Others were hiding in the back. The actual workload I didn’t think was that heavy. I was used to reading and digesting much more material in college. Other students, who did not major in areas with a lot of reading, disagreed.

Second and third years were easier. By then we understood what was required and could play the game. Many students had part-time jobs (this was a long time ago) and were more focused on their jobs than their studies. Students were also busy with law review and or moot court and so the single minded focus on class had diminished.

You want to learn how to think and how to write.

I really enjoyed law school fwiw. We students had an esprit de corps. We worked hard and played hard, most often together.
