I’m a current high school senior in California and my top school is Wellesley. I’m very worried about my acceptance, as I’m not applying early decision because my family isn’t financially stable enough to ensure I will be able to pay the tuition or receive the aid that I’d need, and my weighted gpa is a mere 3.96. I had several undiagnosed learning disabilities (adhd, sensory issues, autism) for the majority of high school making it difficult for me to fully succeed in class, and even after being diagnosed I’m still denied any accommodations at school. My school doesn’t offer honors classes, so the only way to boost my gpa is through AP classes (which I’ve taken eight of: world history, ush, lang, calc ab, psych, lit, gov, and studio art). My extracurriculars are ok: two varsity sports, a club sport, an online program last summer (had an internship at Brown but was canceled due to covid), I’m working as a student poll worker on tuesday, I’ve taken piano for 11 years, have leadership positions in two clubs, raised over $2k for an organization important to me, and TAd in my school’s front office for an entire semester. I also won a national art award in ninth grade. I’ve been self studying for the SAT for the entirety of quarantine but every test I’ve signed up to take has been canceled. I even tried a testing site five hours away but that didn’t work out. My highest score on practice tests was a 1510, so it’s very disappointing because that could’ve been a huge help to my application. I have one more test scheduled but I’ll probably have to end up applying test optional as College Board seems to already hate me. My common essay is strong.
If there’s anything you think could strengthen my application in a short amount of time, or how you feel about my chances, it would be greatly appreciated.
