Getting into Wellesley College

Wellesley College is currently my top choice in college (I can’t apply ED because financial aid plays too large a role in my college decision process).

GPA/ CLASS LOAD
The first few years of high school, I preformed rather horrendously grade wise (B average my freshman year, B- average my sophomore year) but in between my sophomore year an junior year I was diagnosed with ADHD and Dyslexia and after given techniques to work with and beginning treatment methods I started getting very high As all throughout my junior year.
At the time I apply my GPA will be:
3.33 UW
3.78 W
I’ve taken a pretty rigorous course load, including several AP and honors classes throughout high school.
Freshman Year - 2 honors classes, 1 AP class (out of a maximum of 4 total)
Sophomore Year - 3 honor classes, 1 AP class (out of a maximum of 5 total)
Junior Year - 1 honors class, 2 AP classes (out of maximum of 4 total)
Senior Year - 1 honors class, 5 AP classes (out of maximum 7 total)
I will have only taken 2 years of Spanish as my learning disorder makes new languages very hard for me.

TEST SCORES

  • SAT (super scored): Was unable to receive any accommodations for my LD or ADHD because of my school worked to prolong the 504 plan process because they thought my above average performance meant I shouldn’t receive accommodations.
    Total - 2060
    Reading - 720
Math - 650 (rather low because of my LD/ADHD)
    Writing - 690
  • ACT (Super scored): Was able to receive accommodations
    Total - 32

ACTIVITIES
Throughout high school I was involved in student council (member for 3 years, class secretary senior year) and Speech Team (member 2 years). I also worked 5 days a week during the school year at an after-school program at local elementary schools, where I helped kids with homework and ran activities until their parents could pick them up after work (2 years). I also worked 40+ hours a week during the summer as a staff member at a Summer Camp. But besides those activities I was heavily involved in two focus areas, business and working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

ESSAYS
I have been told that I am a very strong essay writer and will be spending an extensive amount of time writing and editing my essays.

  • Common App (What problem I would like to solve)
Will be about how I want to combined my interest for business and entrepreneurship with my passion to help individuals with developmental disabilities by developing more comprehensive day centers for individuals with special needs in order to address the issue in the disparity of options for parents of children with special needs who have aged out of the school system.
  • Why Wellesley Essay
Will have a focus on the “Limitless Education Options” (Talking about how I love how I love the fact that I could have it all at Wellesley, with a school with an amazing and comprehensive Liberal Arts program as well as access to schools like Babson and MIT where I could explore the business classes I also desire. I would also discuss how I would like to help expand their newly growing Babson-Olin-Wellesley relationship and explore the possibilities that that combination can offer.) and “The way in which we have your back” (Talking about how the most appealing thing to me about Wellesley is the chance to be surrounded by other wildly ambitious women, where I can learn in an environment in which everyone is striving to reach their goals and pushing each other to be their very best).
  • Personal Statement
Will talk about my diagnosis and the impact it has had on my academic performance.

So what do you think? Can I get in?

Yes

I think you have a decent chance given your background! Good luck
