Curren bio-related major please?

How hard is it to get at least 3.5 GPA in freshman year at UCLA with a biology major? And is it very difficult to register for classes such as intro bio and chemistry in freshmen year?(I was told by a current bio major in UCLA that freshmen are normally not allowed to take bio.) Thank you for your help!

Your GPA really depends on how hard you work and whether you just get the material. Some people can’t get it despite the work they put in. This applies to basically all majors.

Your first quarter, your classes will be chosen at orientation. They reserve a certain number of spots for each orientation date. Most people get the classes they need, though not everyone does. If the latter is the case, you can still get in if you wait it out. People usually drop before the deadline. Then afterwards, it depends on your pass time, which varies depending on your AP credit and luck.

Freshmen can take LS, but usually are discouraged from doing that. LS courses are pretty heavy, and since most freshmen take chem and/or math their first year, it would be difficult for most students to take three math/science courses a quarter. Also the only LS without a chem or other LS pre-req is LS1. Many students choose to take LS2 first, rather than LS1 for some reason.

If ur going to ucla I would highly recommend the below organizations:

ucla biomedical minor
CURE at UCLA
UCLA student stroke team and stroke force
InnoWorks at UCLA
