Did anyone of you guys start off thinking you would major in something and then did something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT? (e.g. switching from south campus to north campus, etc. etc.) If so, how was the transition? (esp. in regards to satisfying lower division requirements for the disparate majors)

I'm kinda worried that I'm tied in with too many south campus things (like PEERS, a research positon I've secured, and my current classes) and that I'll become bored, find out that it's not what I expected, and hate it (or them) while wasting a lot of time (and money).

There are still open spaces in the Lecture, but all the discussion sections are full, so I'd be on the waitlist for the discussion. Do you usually get into your waitlisted discussions?

Also, do people often participate in lectures that they're not enrolled in? I would like to eavesdrop one 100-man class but I do not want to enroll in 20 units for my first quarter. That would be Death.

same question as x3ucla...when are we notified?
2) if a class is impacted, is it indicated on the transcript?
3) im confused about bruin direct..its only ucla depositing right? not withdrawing.?

Do all MATH31A/B instructors use Stewart's? I'm a bit confused about my textbooks for math - they all say the instructor is FATTORINI/RATSCH for sections 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.

Whenever you feel is best. I sometimes would wait until the prof. gave out the syllabus to see what edition I could buy and still be okay with...

After we get our addresses on the 28th, will we be given the option of shipping our STUFF in advance?

I am taking 16 units fall quarter; how many hours do people usually work (assuming they don't participate in ECs) with this courseload? In other words, what is recommended?

(I also have some unanswered questions on page 21 of the standard CC format (of posts listed per page) or posts 301-315 if anyone is interested.)

when should we buy our textbooks? ASAP, or is there a specific deadline?

You don't even have to buy any. However, it'd probably be a good idea to have access to them sometime the first week. If you do plan on buying them at the UCLA Store in person, it's probably better to get it early zero week to avoid the massively long lines.

According to Ask Housing:

We do not recommend that you ship your belongings prior to your arrival. The University Apartments North office and the front desks on campus do not have the storage space to accommodate bulk packages before check-in.
