As far as the finals, it just depends on the classes and whether or not you think you can handle the back to back finals. Lots of people end up having two finals in one day, so it's definitely doable. Just depends I think.

And about the discussions, no, if they were full they'd just be shown as such. They might be TBA, although they'd probably show up if they were TBA too.

Can freshmen declare their major as "Individual Course of Study"? Does that usually work out? I really love UCLA, but none of the undergrad majors on the list seem to suit my interests.

Also, how does the major thing work? Does it affect your chances of admission? And once you're in a major, how hard is it to transfer out?

Great thread, by the way, I've been following it for awhile ^^

Well, I really want to be a doctor, but I want to be more well-rounded than a Bio major or a Pre-med or something like that :) USC has a major called "Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Studies" which sounds really interesting to me, but I don't really want to go there because I like UCLA so much better! ^^; But since UCLA doesn't exactly have a major similar to that, I was wondering if it was possible to structure my own major...is that very difficult?

It's not awful, but it does require a great deal more footwork than a standardized major. However, I wouldn't commit to the notion of a personalized major just yet. You have tons of time to figure out what you like, so don't worry too much about the legwork for a custom major this early.

If you live in sunset village, you get your packages from Covel Commons
If you live in Rieber Vista or Terrace, you'll get your packages from the Rieber mailroom - for those of you in Hedrick Summit, your packages will go to the Hedrick mailroom.

Yeah. Generally no. Although I have gotten an email from a professor advising that we read the first week's section before the first lecture. This was summer school though, and the professor insisted that she thought it was advisable that we read each section of the reader 3 times to get an A. I read them 0 times on average and got an A, so yknow. Whatever.

How well did your HS prepare you for college? (Note AP courses taken, hours work/study you did in HS, and how well you adjusted upon reaching UCLA.)

I would really appreciate if any of the current Bruins could answer that... it's something that bothers me a lot.
