Just wanna see if I am a candidate for these types of schools such as UPenn, NYU Stern as I really want to study finance and love both of those schools.
KEEP IN MIND… I am only a rising sophomore, I have NOT taken the SAT or ACT yet but can predict at least around a 33 based on brother who also took it and I have a way better GPA than him.
GPA: UW: 3.69 W: N/A
Rank: Top 10-15%
School Type: Highly competitive private school with great reputation
Hooks: Dad went to UPenn CAS Grandfather went to UPenn Wharton
ECS:
1.) Music:
- Play trumpet in Wind Ensemble, by Senior year I can for sure say I will be leading it, been playing for 5 years now.
- Leader in Tenor Section of Choral Ensemble
- A Capella group (4-6 hours a week + gigs for charity events, parties, etc.)
2.) Business/Finance:
- Created an app (hasn’t really taken off but still put in lots of work to it)
- Investment club (won 1st place in stock competition out of over 100 people)
- Entrepreneurship Club
3.) Writing:
- Creative writing/poems published on TeenInk
- School Newspaper, will probably be editor in chief senior year.
Class Rigor: Currently taking pretty tough classes… my schedule for Sophomore year is as follows:
Honors Chemistry
Honors Algebra 2 + Trig
English 10 (No honors available)
AP World History
Mandarin 3 (No honors available)
AGAIN I realize it’s hard to chance as I only am a rising sophomore and don’t have ACTs/SATs but please tell me if I have absolutely no shot at these kinds of schools (top 20ish schools) + NYU Stern (another dream school) or if I do have a shot if I continue/better my grades. Again a 3.69 at my private school is considered extremely good, but it may still not be enough for these kinds of schools.
Thanks again!
