Hi, so I’ve only seen really old threads on this. I’ve heard Leebron has been making changes as far as cracking down on parties and stuff, so I’m not sure how applicable old threads are anymore.
I’ve been smoking regularly for a while now. I usually smoke alone and do it more for personal benefits than the party scene. I know the medical marijuana system in Texas is pretty unhelpful currently so I’ll have to do it illegally.
I’m guessing I won’t be able to smoke actual bud because going outside isn’t lope and the smoke alarms and smell would make it inappropriate for dorms, right? I guess wax pens are always an option, though I’m not usually a fan of the synthetic stuff.
Overall, how accepted/common is drinking, smoking, or psychedelics on campus? In dorms?
How accessible are dealers for bud, shrooms, etc? Would I have to go off campus for anything harder than weed?
By the way, I am a physics major and plan to take my studies seriously; I just want to know what to expect and not be a nuisance on campus.
Also, somewhat related:
How strict are RA’s? What rules of the dorms are seriously enforced?
Using weed is pretty common (as it is at almost all American colleges nowadays.) People usually go outside on balconies to smoke, and most RAs usually turn a blind eye to weed. Hard drug use is much rarer and looked upon very unfavorably by school authorities and a large part of the student population.
My son is a current student and they would take other drugs very seriously and it is not allowed. The same goes for hard alchohol. Beer is common and they have a blind eye to that.
My daughter recently graduated from University of St. Thomas, a small college a few miles down the road from Rice. She often went to parties with Rice students and found that psychedelic mushrooms are pretty popular among a subset of Rice students.
Psychedelics are not very popular. Weed is everywhere, both regular bud and pens. There are several spots, at pretty much every residential college, where you can go to do it covertly and safely. RAs are adults, not students, and they turn a blind eye to anything that isn’t making someone pass out and need to be helped by EMS
