Current Fordham student open for any questions! =]

I have been looking into Fordham and it seems to be a very respectable school with great rankings. I plan to visit it within the next month. currently, i am a junior and plan on going into business when i go to college. i have heard great things about the business school and it seems to be a rather popular major at fordham. i apologize if this issue has already been brought up which i kinda think it porbably has. when i was looking through businessweek ranking on business schools, it showed fordham being like in the top 30 between 2007-2008 but now its down to 48. its still a very good ranking and its great that it is still in the top 50, but i was just wondering if this is something that one looking to go into business should be concerned about when looking at fordham. do you think a trend like this may continue? thanks for your time and once again i am sorry if this was already brought up.

businessweek rankings are known to fluctuate greatly from year to year (and thus aren’t one of the more credible college rankings out there). I wouldn’t be concerned by the ranking. The business school has higher SAT scores, better faculty, more money, and more opportunities than ever before. And in 2012, the new, state of the art business facility will open, which will most surely boost Fordham’s ranking (right now, Fordham’s facilities score very low, which hurts Fordham’s rank).

Do you know anything about double-majoring and/or the 3/3 program?

Thank you for taking your time and answering these questions, i really appreciate it!

Do you know anything about the computer science program at RH? Are the profs really good?

I’m wondering If I could get in if I continued what I have been doing? Or how can I improve?

Double majoring is fairly easy to do at Fordham, especially if your majors have some courses that overlap, if some of your core courses count towards your major, and/or if you come in with AP/IB credits.

Here’s the website for the 3-2 engineering program with Columbia:

[Engineering

Chris Poor is the director and he’s AWESOME. Here’s an article about some research he’s been doing recently:

To Math Professor, Numbers Have an Authority All Their Own](http://www.fordham.edu/academics/programs_at_fordham_/engineering_1650.asp)

I believe it is a fairly selective program.

I meant the 3/3 BS/JD program…selectivity and such

Are the RH freshman dorms big enough for me to bring a desktop computer?

you should have no problem fitting a desktop if that’s what you need to bring.

I apologize in advance if this question offends anyone. I know that Fordham has a very diverse student body, but do you personally know any Jewish students and do they fit in well?

No offense taken. My S is a junior at RH and he has Jewish friends (along with Muslims, atheists…) who are all very happy at Fordham. I would say that if you like to be with a lot of other Jewish students, Fordham may not be the best choice. But if that isn’t important, you should be just fine. You will have to take 2 religion classes. One class everyone has to take (and the content varies by prof.) but the second is an elective so you can take The Old Testament or Religions of the World or something like that. If you can make it to the accepted students day, it might help you get a feel for if Fordham could be the right school for you.

Thanks for your answer, we’re not overly religious, so it sounds like there won’t be an issue

Hi! What would you say are the 5 things you like best about Fordham, and the 5 things that you like least?

Thank you for answering these questions!

Okay. Are the LC dorms big enough too?
