Current Freshman at GU!

Hello everyone! Congratulations to those accepted EA to the class of 2018!!!

For those deferred do not discourage at all! I have so many friends here who were deferred EA and they are none the less leaders on campus and some of my greatest peer intellectuals.

If you have any specific questions about Georgetown and what life is like let me know. I had a super hard time picking between here and a full ride to anywhere in my home state. I was scared I may not fit in to the party reputation Georgetown had but I absolutely love it here (yes the party reputation does exist but if you don't want to see it, you can easily avoid it).

I have had the most amazing semester semester at Georgetown (last final on Thursday!). I could describe it no other way besides brushing the flames of hell and touching the clouds of heaven. The extremes of life have descended upon me at Georgetown and I have learned and invaluable amount about myself, not to mention academics thanks to the Jesuit tradition of cura personalis (and no, I'm not Catholic).

What separates Georgetown from its rivals is the fact that this experience is not academic, its about building the whole body and teaching you how to live: From faith and spirituality, to religion, to being authentic to yourself, to experiencing new cultures and openly debate any topic, to the vast network of resources and internships in the city, to study abroad and alternative spring breaks, to the overwhelming amount of clubs and activities, to the parties, and back again. You learn more than a skill or academic knowledge for a degree, you learn how to pursue joy and your passions.

So choose Georgetown! You won't regret it.

I love your passion! What a nice succinct introduction to the school. I’m especially motivated by your comment about deferred students. It’s easy to succumb to the grief of not being a first pick–but it’s admissions, right! Just like business, it isn’t personal.

Being deferred myself, I can only hope a second round decision yields results in my favor. And if not, I guess there’s always google maps?

Georgetown also wanted to be more cautious this year about letting EA people in. Last year most of the elite schools let in a lot more kids than usual which really reduced the regular number of spots despite, once again, record increases in applications.

Make sure to update Georgetown with an academic or social achievements; its a great way to say I’m still very much in love with Georgetown without being annoying and they want to see you still making progress in your senior year.
